Pincushion's OV Maps

Overrun pits one or more players against wave after wave of AI attackers. The object: SURVIVE! Protect your turrets, generators, and radar station. You can only spawn in once per game. Scoring is based on the types of vehicles you destroy. The attackers may be Cybrid, Human, or mixed - depending on the map or the server settings. Overrun has powerful anti-TK logic. When team damage is on (as it is by default) any teamkill results in the offender immediately being kicked from the server. If he returns the default settings won't allow him to rejoin until the next game. The victim can respawn, even if the game is already in progress.

The AI drive several vehicles usually forbidden to human players: the Metagen Executioner and Adjudicator, slight variants of the Platinum Guard Exec and Adju, and the Outrider Apocalypse and Dreadlock. The server administrator can restrict player equipment without affecting the AI. Edit OVStdLib.cs to allow or disallow AI vehicles, or to tweak the relative mix of types and their point values.

Quick Start: The Overrun 3.5 Package (55KB) contains all the scripts and maps described below in one convenient package. Unzip the contents into your starsiege/multiplayer folder - except Server_OV.cs which is a dedicated server script that should go in starsiege.

Important! All Overrun missions require OVStdLib.cs (current version is 3.5, Mar 17, 2000) which should be installed in your starsiege/multiplayer folder along with the Overrun map files (.mis and .cs) below. The details for creating new Overrun maps are described at the top of this file. OVStdLib.cs 3.5 should finally resolve the "idle AI" bug - with a direct fix this time. Very rarely an AI will get caught against an obstacle or stand still sniping for too long. These AI will still self-destruct. There are also some fixes courtesy of Dolf Kooz: When you drop into a game in progress you should now be able to stay and see the action, instead of the ground. Also, if you drop on any team other than Purple you'll automatically be switched over to Purple.

To run a dedicated server you'll want Server_OV.cs, which goes in your starsiege folder.

Known Issues: The code has stabilized and is now fairly well debugged. Please post bug reports to the Editing and Scripting Forum. There is some weirdness with non-dedicated server teams. You may need to activate Yellow team as well as Purple in order to Create the game.

Credits: The original idea was proposed by Super Monkey in this post. The initial (quite excellent) implementation and map were created by Orogogus. Pincushion generalized the scenario to OVStdLib.cs and created the maps below (unless otherwise noted). Dolf Kooz has playtested and fixed bugs. -=NSDF=-Merk helped playtest the anti-TK code and runs a superb dedicated Overrun server.
