Adolph H. Gloth was born on March 26, 1843 in Berka, Germany to Frederick and Wilhelmina (Heiligenstadt) Gloth. The family emigrated to the United States in 1845.
Louisa Herzog was born July 10, 1848 to Friederich and Louisa Herzog in Hirschthal, Bavaria. At age ten, she emigrated from Havre to New York on the ship "Mercury" with her parents and one sister.
As an adult, Adolph became a shopkeeper, with a shoe store near 18th and Holland in Erie, Pennsylvania.
Adolph and Louisa were married on February 16, 1869. They had at least two children, Elizabeth Sophia Gloth, born in 1869, and Emma Louisa Gloth, born in 1874.
Louisa died on October 16, 1914 in Erie and was buried in Erie Cemetery.
Adolph lived to be 75, dying on February 14, 1919 in Erie. He was also buried in Erie Cemetery.
