Modern culture in
Mexico began with the fight for independence in Mexico in
1810
and continued through to the revolution.
Since these events, Mexico's quest for identity has begun
in earnest. Culture is a very complex term to define in
any country, and that of Mexico is no exception. Many say
that it is in fact three in one - indigenous, Hispanic and modern cultures. This means that modern day Mexico is
a mestizo culture, a mixture of these disparate elements
to form something new and unique. Obviously, the
contrasts and contradictions are overwhelming, but any
investigation into Mexican culture is worth the effort.
