Blind
Dream
Where do I fit into your American Dream?
That American Vision, Americans SCREAM
Blond hair and eyes of blue,
Tits of silicone and face job too.
I'm not quite seeing that in me.
Do you?
Sitting quiet on the side
Blending into the colors gone by
A mask of faces left undone
Which side is which?
Where are you from?
In a land where all is gray
I stand united but alone
Splashed white, yet tan, yet no.
Box yourself in, fill in those dots
Tell us about yourself, but not.
You're white
but half
but foreign,
but no
One quarter, two quarters, three quarters....so?
We are the country that is blind
But why must I identify?
If all are equal then who cares
Unless we are hypocrites...oh no beware!
The American image, please tell me more
If we are so wonderful then why do I scorn
the teacher who lets me know
my "step-sister" scored?
We tie our hands and close our eyes.
Between the cracks and creases we spy
A country that is truely blind in both matters of heart and mind
That's why I fill my dot and identify.
