If you dont have a guitar but really want to play go buy one NOW!
What, It's too expensive? Cant you spare 50$???? I'm sure that
if you search a little in the used guitar sections of you fav stores, 
you'll find very cheap guitars. But for 50$ you dont have a good 
guitar right? Yeah, mabye but do you need a good guitar? No. 
Why? Because you dont know how to play. If on the other hand
you have a guitar, read on.

If you think you are not good enough to play or just dont like to play
because you are not good, you should try to think of this: Kurt itself
wasnt a good guitar player. No kidding. He learned how to play on his 
own and he never took any class.  If you are taking class, stop now. You
are paying someone for nothing. The only way to get very good is to 
practice. Kurt wansnt good as I said and it shows. Just listen to
Bleach. Nothing very hard on that cd. Still, the songs are good. Why?
Because Kurt loved what he was doing. Even if he didnt know how
to play very well, he was "feeling the music". This is why he composed
all this stuff. Of course, when you listen to In Utero, the guitar is a little
more evoluated but after doing 4 cds..you kinda figure out how to 
play correctly. 

So, if kurt could play his songs while not even knowing much about 
guitar, I'm sure you can. Just keep in mind that no matter how cheap is 
your guitar, it only needs 6 chords and your all set. Who cares about your
sound, who cares about the quality of your playing. Just have fun. One day
or another, you will find out that Polly is too easy: you will want to try Smells 
like teen spirits. Then you will move on to harder songs and before you 
even know it, you will be better than your friends which are playing guitar 
since they are 6. Beleive me. It's been 2 years since I started playing guitar
and I cant say I'm as good as Kurt but I'm getting better each and every day.

Getting started



First, you should know that you cant expect to have the Nirvana sound. Kurt
was the only musician I know that could produce such great noises. He could 
produce real good effects just with his amplificator's feedback. This is 
extremely hard to achieve. Now, you gotta understand that what you will
play might not even sound right. You should always have a well tuned guitar. 
How do I achieve this? Easy, go buy an electronic tuner. I still use this
even If I can tune my guitar without it. It's amazing to see the precision
it can bring. Another thing you need to be able to play nirvana songs are tabs.
Dont go and waste your money on a tab book: you can find them all online, on this
very site. You should start by playing easy songs. I suggest you begin by Polly. 
Polly is an easy and simple song. Listen to the cd a couple of time and then, take
your guitar and fallow the rythm. At first it might be a little difficult to fallow
and your fingers may not always go where you want them to but keep practicing.
