Tuesday, September 2, 1997 -- Three things

Ok we've settled on a name for the kitty, I think. Kapua. Ok so the link doesn't have much info let me know if you know more. Kapua has been shortened to Pu or Poo, or Pooh,(spelling dependent on meaning), so works well as a kitty name. I noticed three interesting things today. I guess, all in all it was a dull day, routing and non exciting. But here goes:

Azura dropped me off at work this morning, early. I guess I got to work around 7:40 or so, about half an hour before I normally do. Somehow this put my feet on a slightly different path, and I noticed a plaque I've walked by many times. It read, "Jefferson Davis stood here when he was told of Lincoln's death [date]". This is on the same block I work! I guess everywhere has a little history. When I was in Greensboro, I worked a couple of blocks from an office O'Henry used, and lived next to a battleground from the Revolutionary war.

On the way home, I saw one of the people I saw in jail. He was one of the inmates there, who was doing some cleaning. I just looked at him and thought, "I know him." Another glance, and I knew where from.

He got on my bus and rode home. I don't know what he was in jail for, and I really wasn't upset to see him. It was just one of those things.

Until I started writing this entry, I didn't even think about being upset or scared, knowing he had been in jail [For what, after all? It wasn't a maximum security prison or anything.]. I really can't be after all, I was there, and I wasn't a guard.

The third thing was on my answering machine when I got home. I've got an interview tomorrow for a new job. I hope it will be better, and I may get it. My resume matches their needs well. Now to see if it carries over from the 'resume/job description' world to the 'real' world. And that this is a better job than I have now. That's all I ask. Not more money, not more benefits. Better job.

To celebrate, I took Azura out to eat Chinese. I've only found two chinese restaurants th at sell the one or two Chinese dishes I like. One is only open for lunch, and the other is a drive away. So we drove.

Stopped at The Fresh Market, and bought tea and cake, and stopped at Heroes, where I bought up a new comic called "The Darkness". I've read the first couple of issues, and it's good. I'll let you know more later.

I've got to iron a shirt.
