I have been fascinated with wild roses since my childhood in Northwestern Ontario.  The scent  of the roses has always drawn me to them, but the colour of the roses themselves was also appealing. I lived on the prairies of Southern Manitoba in a well developed farmland area and on the tundra, both these places did not have wild roses.  When I moved to Yellowknife, much to my delight, the following spring there were masses of wild roses in bloom.  I was transported back to my childhood and resumed my enjoyment of this hardy, fragile and beautiful flower.  I wish I could catch the scent, as well as the flowers themselves.
