November 1996
I talked to my father twice in
June 1996, once for Fathers Day
and then for his birthday. Both times he complained vehemently about the
mosquitoes. They had not been that bad in 29 years. All those years ago
my brother was young and would say "Scidobugs get you" and refuse
to go outside. As we were talking this quilt design popped into my head.
I felt it would be a good thing to remind my father that the summer of 1996
was when the mosquitoes were so bad. Well he is worried about the mosquito
he can see, there is one on the back that is getting away with her precious
cargo, hence the name "Gotchya"!
