COUNTRY LANES

I drove along country lanes this morning
The sun was shining warmly down upon me
A slight mist was just lifting
Made me think of you
I looked to the green fields
that seemed to go on forever
I drove through wooded copses
and marvelled at their splendour
The hedgerows were bustling with life
The flowers bobbed their heads at the breeze of my passing
The smell of freshly cut grass
drifted on the air
I felt I could just drive on forever
I felt I could just live forever
I felt so calm, so at peace

Then I had to go to work.
