Castellón, España- June 29, 2004

The very last week of the first semester. A few people left today, and most everyone will be gone by this weekend. The last class for me is Thursday. It feels great to be finishing up the first of three parts of this graduate program.

Next will be Austria. The good thing is I already know a few people from Spain who will be going to Austria. They include an Austrian and an American woman. Then when I come back to Spain again, it will include an Italian guy, an American woman, and an Indian woman. Its always good to be at least familiar with a few people before going to the next places in life.

Right now I am finishing up my graduate class in Biodiversity Conservation and Poverty Alleviation: Linkages, COnflicts and Reconciliation. Its a fairly interesting class, but a demanding course, particularly as the very last class of the school year when so many students have their mind elsewhere.

I´m also very glad to be leaving the residencia. For the last 12 weeks, I´ve been living in a university dormitory far away from the town and anything else. Its nice to be around fellow students, but everything else about it is quite dull and boring. When I come back to Spain in the Fall, I defientely intend to live somewhere in downtown Castellón. It will feel much more like Spain than this non-generic campus life.

Everything else is going well. I bought a ticket for Ireland, leaving this Saturday. I still have the ticket to Paris, but decided not to use it. Since it only cost me around 16 euros, its not that big of a deal not to take it. I´ve always wanted to go to Ireland, plus I have a friend who lives there so even better.
