A RTISTS

A Historical Note of Intent and Purpose
extracted from the SCA original Bylaws, formed at Montalvo in 1958.

It's purpose shall be to stimulate community interest in, and add to each individual's knowledge of modern art.

SARATOGA CONTEMPORARY ARTISTS was established in 1958. It is open to artists and other community members with a keen interest in the visual arts. The purpose of the organization is to foster creativity, acquaint members with the current art scene, and stimulate community interest in the visual arts. Members are encouraged to attend lecture demonstrations, show their work at designated locations throughout the valley and take part in workshops and field trips.

An active member shall participate in, and carry on the work of the organization; shall attend meetings; shall receive the newsletter, membership card and roster; and is privileged to vote and hold office.

Over the years at least 36 members have taken the reins of leadership as president. Sometimes they lasted several years. In 1998 we celebrated our 40 year anniversary. At present we are looking forward to furthering those original intentions of the original members.

Some of the longest memberships in SCA:
Gloria Watson - 1970
Ruth Rainie Condit - 1964
Mary Guth - 1996
Maree Lubran - 1966
Phyllis Feemster - 1979
