After digging into the motor of the 'ole S10, the shop called me yesterday with some bad news.  The motor is shot, and a new one would cost me $2688.00, installed.  I told them to put the junk motor in the bed of the truck and to push it out on to their lot.  Me and some buddies were going to winch it on a trailer and bring it home.

Well, after thinking, and thinking more what my options are:

• Junk the truck, and ride the motorcycle year round.  Not even an option, especially in the winter
• Buy a cheap ($900.00) rebuilt motor, have a coworker, a self professed grease monkey, install it, and sell it
• Pay off a couple bills, virtually draining my savings, and buy a new vehicle.  I don't want, nor can afford, vehicle payments for the next five years.  On top of that, I wouldn't be able to afford what I want
