Man, if I didn't have constant bad luck I wouldn't have any luck at all. My truck has been acting up lately, with the check gauges light coming on after only driving it a couple of miles. At times I could hear what I thought to be lifter clatter, meaning the oil's not getting pumped properly through the motor. Not a good thing! Anyhow, I dropped it off at a shop this morning, and they called this afternoon with the suspected bad news. I was right, the 'ole S10 did have an oil problem - an $1100.00 problem!!! I'll itemize the expenditure:
You might remember all the bad luck I had last year with household disasters, those of you who read my old journal (the one I can't mention here); I was sure hoping for a cheap, disaster free 1999. I guess I can cancel any hopes of taking that trip in June; I definitely won't be able to afford such a luxury now!
On a brighter note, I did get to see my daughter for a while this afternoon. X (formerly the wife) stopped by to pick up some mail and left little one with me while she ran some errands. We played out in the yard and the sandbox; she even got a glimpse of the wild rabbits I've wrote about lately. Then the thunderstorms moved in, ruining our outdoor time. She did unknowingly add to my mental funk though when she called me by his (boy-toy's name). She's called me mommy before, but NEVER another man's name. I ignored it as best I could at the time, but it's really bugging the shit out of me right now. I know she doesn't understand what's happened, and I would never scorn her for making such a mistake, no matter how much it hurts me deep inside. I will just suck it in and move forward. Have a nice evening! |
