Creaky Old Bones!

Monday, May 31, 1999

I unexpectedly was swamped with mega hours, once again, all of last week; the reasoning behind the lack of entries last week.

I had my daughter this weekend, though it wasn't my turn, because x (formerly the wife) was going to the Indy 500.  Man, did we make the most of it too!  Saturday evening we went bowling with my parents, and yesterday was nonstop fun.

The day started out with a bunch of fellow coworkers and friends playing softball.  I haven't played ball in years, and it didn't take me long to realize that I'd be paying for it for days to come.  A wonderful time was had, just some good honest exercise and much needed social interaction.

When we were all exhausted we moved on over to a coworker's house for a cookout and swim party.  Little One had a ball swimming, in fact, I had a heck of a time getting her out - even after darkness fell.  Everyone was surprised and impressed at how well mannered she was, and of course they thought she was just the cutest thing.  I must say I was shocked at how well she dealt with the crowd, there must have been thirty people there at one point.

It must have been close to 10 p.m. when we headed for home, both of us totally worn out.  She went to bed without any fussing whatsoever, me about an hour later, and I didn't wake up until the phone rang at 9 a.m.  It was x wanting to know if L/One was up so she could pick her up, and I told her to call back in an hour or so.  I finally staggered out of bed a half hour later, every muscle and bone in my body SORE!  And I mean SORE!

The only way I could stir L/One was to crank up Nickelodeon on the tube, and that didn't do the job for quite some time.  Usually she's up by 7 a.m. when staying with me, so I was glad to see that yesterday's activities wore her out so.  She eventually got up, ate breakfast, and x picked her up.  Before leaving she told me she had a wonderful time yesterday - that makes me feel good!

I took a nap this afternoon and could hardly get out of bed because of the soreness racking my entire body.  To get things loosened up I hobbled out to the yard to do some weed eatin' and I must say the yard looks nice!

I'm a shower man, never have liked taking baths, but this evening I'm really tempted to run a hot bath, to soak this sore old body for a while.  Problem is, I probably wouldn't be able to crawl out of the damn thing unless the bath loosened me up a whole BUNCH!

I still loved the activity!
