Independence Hall

Independence Hall

Built between 1732 and 1756, Independence Hall was originally known as the Pennsylvania State House.  This is where the Declaration of Independence was written and signed in 1776, and the Constitutional Convention took place here in 1787.  This is the south side of the historic building, as seen from the foot of the Commodore John Barry statue in the courtyard.
