Horane Smith is a Jamaican-born Canadian-based writer, who was born less than a mile from Lover's Leap in the parish of
St. Elizabeth. He has been a journalist for more than twenty years, having worked in just about all aspects of newspaper, radio, and television. He was Senior News
Editor/Producer/Reporter for JBC-TV in Kingston, Jamaica up to the time of his departure in 1990. He also acted briefly as an Assistant Director of Television News. Since then, he has been
mainly writing commentaries for a number of newspapers and magazines and has written several novels over that period. Lover's Leap is the first to be published. Mr. Smith was awarded the 1981
Jack Anderson Memorial Scholarship for Journalism to study Mass Communication at the University of the West Indies, Mona, Jamaica.
