My Life As A Duck (Or "Just Ducky")
By Lia!
I’d like to be a duck
And swim thru the muck
And quack away
The endless day
I’d flap my wings
Past sea and mountain
Land and swim
In Uvic’s fountain
Students would come
And feed me bread
I’d be all grey
With a bright green head
No! Wait! Male mallards
Have green heads
So I’d be brown and white
Speckled instead
I could fly thru the air
Without a care
Here or there
Or anywhere
Fly past real life
Into a cartoon
An animated duck
On the Disney Afternoon
Like Darkwing I’d
Fill villains with dread
Have anvils dropped
Upon my head
And on T.V.
White I would be
For everyone knows that on Disney
Mallards are all painted white
Just like the terror that flaps in the night
And after Disney
I might venture
Onto Tiny Toon
Adventures
Where anvils are plenty
As Plucky Duck knows
Which is why it is one
Of my favorite shows
And after hanging with Buster and Babs
And with Plucky
I’d come back and be
No more a toon ducky
And back in the fountain
I’d settle my feathers
And swim thru the water
Whatever the weather
Now, being a duck
Would be life without study
Life with no stress
(Which can make me go nutty)
A life without sorrow
One where I could fly
And not have to question
And not have to cry
So though they eat bugs
And their feathers get mucky
Compared to my life
A duck’s is just ducky
And that’s why a duck
I would much like to be
Feathered and floating
And flyaway free
