March of the Living 1999 Diary
April 15, 8:45 AM
I never thought the term "emotional roller-coaster" would apply so well. After I stopped writing yesterday (today), I cried for a little bit with Natalie. Then I went to another room and called mom and she was home! I talked with her for about 15 or 20 minutes. We were on the front page of Tuesday’s Gazette!
I was really uplifted by the phone call. Anyway, there were a bunch of people just sitting and talking in the hall so I joined them. I didn’t stay very long though. I hugged everyone and went to bed.
This morning I woke up at wake-up, 7:30 (after going to bed at 2:30 or 3) and the sun was shining! I felt so great and happy, but don’t ask me to tell you why. Natalie (my roommate) was also in a great mood.
At breakfast, the general atmosphere was really happy. We all laughed a lot. We’re going to an apparently really pretty place today. It’s called Tikochyn. Then we’re going to Treblinka.
An emotional roller-coaster. I’m at a high now, and am waiting for a low that I hope won’t come, but that I know will.
In a great mood,
Julie
