A Few Good Techs
(Like the "You can't handle the truth!" line from A Few Good Men)
Son, we live in a world that has computers. And those computers have users. And those users have to be guided by men with phones. Who's gonna do it? You? Bill Gates? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for the users and you curse tech support. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know: Removing that user's access, while tragic, probably saved data.
And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, keeps the desktop running. You don't want the truth. Because deep down, in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that phone. You want me there. We use words like pebcak, fubar, rotflmao...we use these words as the backbone to a life spent troubleshooting pc's. You use 'em as a punch line.
I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who logs in and emails under the blanket of the very support I provide, then questions the manner in which I provide it. I'd prefer you just said thank you and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a phone and take a call. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you're entitled to.
