6 - 03 - 97 The new double-CD Wu-Tang album dropped on June 3, and I was one of the first Wu-fans to get it! The Virgin Megastore near my school had a promotional deal going on which gave out free Wu-Tang Forever jerseys to the first 150 people in line to buy the new CD at midnight. Unfortunately, the jersey was a dissapointment, a flimsy garmet made probably from a plastic trashbag with a cheap iron on decal. However, after listening to just a couple of the songs on the new CD, my dissapointment dissapeared as I sat in my room letting the raw beats invade my mind. There are a total of 26 tracks on the two CD's, and I would say that roughly 99% of them are bangin. The only beef I have is with the first track, Wu-Revolution, which isn't even really a "song" at all, but rather Poppa Wu and Uncle Pete spewing off some bullshizznaties about this and that. So far, my favorite tracks have been Visionz, As High As Wu-Tang Get, Bells of War, and Dog Shit. However, the more I listen to the album the more I start to realize that all the tracks kick ass. As for the computer freaks out there waiting to drool over the enhanced portion of the Wu-Tang CD, stop drooling and go play Warcraft instead. I thought the video-game on the CD would be crazy, but it's only a first-person adventure sort of like Myst. Wouldn't it be crazy if they made a fighting game called Wu-Tang Kombat? You would get to choose from one of the nine original Wu members, with each member posessing a unique style of attack and even maybe a finishing move! Hahaha, maybe someone would visit my page and develop it soon. 6 - 30 - 97 As of the last week of June, Wu-Tang Forever is topping the charts as the number one selling album, selling over 600,000 copies by the first week of sales, just shy from setting a new double-CD record. Although I did not doubt the Wu could pull off what they did, I was surprised of the amount of acceptance the music industry gave the Wu and how many fans the Wu really had. Whether it may be true hard-core fans like me who've been waiting for the new CD compilation for over 4 years, or just an eager rap advocate yearning for a different style of rap only the Wu can satiate, fans agree that Wu-Tang Forever will go down in history, along with 36 Chambers, as an all time classic.
