My eye would turn inward and descend inside me like a periscope,
scrutinizing my body's innermost recesses and my mind's most mysterious depths.
I saw years stretching out in front of me
in a single continuous sequence . . .
monotonous,
colorless,
uniform,
one after the other,
until the day I died.
A mistake we always make . . . believing that life's immutable,
that once you get on a particular track you have to follow it to the end of the line.
But it appears that Fate has more imagination than we do.
Just when you think that you're in a situation that you can't escape from,
when you've reached the lowest depths of total desperation,
everything changes as fast as a gust of wind.
Everything's overturned; from one second to the next,
you find you're living a new life.
There are many tiny windows between the body and the spirit.
If they're open,
emotions flow freely back and forth,
but if they're closed,
not much can filter through.
Only love can fling them open all together,
all at once,
like a gust of wind.
~~~The idea of predestination~~~
in the life of every man
there's only one woman he can achieve a perfect union with,
and in the life of every woman
there's only one man with whom she can become complete.
Very few were destined to find one another.
All others were condemned
to live in a state of chronic dissatisfaction,
of perpetual longing......
