The Drawing Room
Here is where the designs are put down on paper. On the drawing board, you will see Kate's design for what she calls "The 1998 Golden Globes Dress Revisited and Better This Time." (Kate has kind of a thing for long titles.) This dress is a second attempt at the dress Gillian Anderson wore to the Golden Globes in 1998. This dress has a sheer black over-layer with a sequined design added over the plain black dress that was actually worn.

On the second drawing board, you will see a design for an upcoming fanfic. This is actually a collaboration by both Kate and Karen. Note Karen's comment to remember that the headband is glittered.

Next to this dress, on the drawing board you will see Kate's design for another character from the same fanfic- a young girl named Morgan.
The designer's comments for this dress are kind of amusing.
She says that she was actually thinking "Loreena McKennit" at the time, and this dress just kind of hit her. Of course, this was in the tour bus at 9:00 pm and her light wasn't working, so she had to get it down as best she could in the dark.

Over here, on the third desk, Karen is working on a kind of summery dress, complete with the designer's signature hair lei's. Notice the difference in the styles of drawing, and how Karen has a tendency to jot down notes, while Kate just trusts herself to remember all of it.

Moving along, on the fourth desk here, you can see Kate's design for another fancy dress. This one too, has an interesting story behind it. The back was inspired by a swimsuit that Kate had as a child. It consists of stretchy black straps secured by a brass ring. This was one of a few dresses that two designers disagreed on- Kate wanted to make the back low enough to show Scully's tattoo, but Karen didn't. Obviously, Karen won.

Pinned up beside the door here is Kare'ns favorite design, a dress consisting of a long navy blue under-dress with a white topcoat. The necklace is a half sun/moon charm, probably give to Scully by her sister before her untimely death. But let's not dwell on that. The designers hate anything depressing.
