The Scullywear Offices
Tour Stop 4
The Review Room
Here all the recent designs are
reviewed by 7 avid X-Philes for likeability. Only the best clothes get
past this point. This first dress on the right wall is what Kate calls the
'post Star Wars' dress... the first dress she drew after finally kicing
her Star Wars addiction.... except for the fact that it's not gone....
and she is desperately searching for a Queen Amidala T-shirt in adult sizes......
Hanging next to the blue and white dress is the of the
Queen Amidala dresses. For about a month or so, Kate was somehow mysteriously
addicted to Star Wars, a relapse of her addiction in fourth grade. We assume
it's something about being in a grade that's a multiple of four. Luckily,
though, she didn't forget her roots, and still watched the X-Files religiously
during this time. This dress is inspired by the dress Natalie Portman wears
in the last, 'Parade' scene of 'The Phantom Menace'. Note that with this
dress, Scully doesn't need long hair-it's been ingeniusly hidden with a
meideval-style headdress.
Here now, next to the last Queen Amidala is the second dress in the
four-dress series. This one again has a headdress that hides the length
of Scully's hair. The designer has no clue where she'd ever wear these,
but they were awfully fun to draw.....8^) The jewels were gone over with
a silver pen 'borrowed' form a friend in shop class. (he didn't seem to
want it, and so I figured to put it to good use!)
The third Queen Amidala dress is what Kate calls a 'techno
dress', a dress that has some kind of technoogy embedded or integrated
into it. IN this case, the purple is actually a fiber-optic shimmer, controlled
by a battery pack hidden in the top of the headdress. THe headdress was
inspired by the time Kate dresed up totally spontaneously and threw a cape
over her head and said 'Hey! Queen Amidala!"
This is the last Amidala dress, ermine hemmed with Kate's
signature 'Enigma Squiggles' Yes sir? You have a question? Why aare they
called Enigma Squiggles? Well, I assume you've seen the X-Files episode
'Humbug' with the Connundrum, the jigsaw puzzle tattooed man> In real life
his name's the Enigma. One day Kate was doodling on her arm in class with
a metallic pen, and soon she had doodled in these squiggles all he way
up her arm. In short, someone said she should get her whole body tattooed
in the squiggles, sort of like the Enigma and his puzzle pieces. So far,
the designer is under 18, and her parents said no way, but after she gets
to 18, there's no telling what might happen.....
This next outfit is grounded in reality. The white top is like one
Kate owns, (oredered from the Delia*s catalogue) She wore it to school,
and even though her underwear wasn't showing, and the whole thing was more
than decent, some %#(@& social studies teacher told her she couldn't
wear it, and she had to wear her coat for the rest of the day, even though
it was 90 degrees outside. The black skirt was a Buffalo Exchange find,
but the parental unit said no.
Next stop.... this way.
