If you want to join this webring, pull up a chair, get yourself a coffee or whatever you prefer to drink, and read on! This might all seem confusing at first but if you read it a couple of times it starts to make sense! It might be worth bookmarking this page if you intend to join, so that when you are adding the HTML to your page, you can refer back to these instructions.
If you have a site relevant to WorldsAway in some way you may submit a request to be included. Please complete the form which you will find further down this page.
When you complete the form, your site will automatically be added to the WorldsAway Webring Queue. You will then need to follow the instructions about the next steps to take. You will receive an automatically sent e-mail after submitting the form. This mail will include an ID number for your site, please make note of the ID number, you will need it
If you do not recieve e-mail within a week of submitting your site to the queue please e-mail me in case there has been an error processing your request.
Please read this page in its entirety.
The only requirements for joining this ring are as follows:
(1) It is expected that pages on this ring will respect Copyright.
(2) Your site must have some WorldsAway related content. It is perfectly acceptable to submit your site if it only has a small WorldsAway section.
If your site contains several sections, and one of them is WorldsAway related, you can choose to put the control strip on your main index page but only if there is a clear link from there to the WorldsAway section of your site. The reason for this is so that people browsing through the webring don't keep stumbling upon sites that have no Worlds Away content.
The co-ordinator of this webring reserves the right to refuse entry into the ring. It is unlikely that your site will be refused entry but if the site does not contain any WorldsAway related content then I won't include your site in this particular webring. There are many other rings to choose from though. If your site is not suitable for addition to this particular webring, please visit Webring for a full listing of over thousands of rings covering a vast range of topics. If you can't find a ring which you want to join, or which is relevant to the theme of your page, you can start your own! Anyone can start one, on any topic you can think of.
Once in the queue you will be need to add the control strip to your page which shows you to be a WorldsAway Members Webring site and which links your page to the next site in the ring. Your site will not be moved from the queue into the ring until the control strip is on your page. It would be appreciated if you could add the control strip to your main page as soon as possible after submitting your site. It is essential that you e-mail webring@mongoose.force9.co.uk when you have added the control strip to your page, just to let me know that your site is ready to be moved into the ring.
Once your site has been added to the queue, please follow the list of steps carefully to complete your addition to the webring. Sites cannot be moved from the queue into the ring until the code is correctly in place.
(1) Copy the WorldsAway Members Webring graphic to your Hard Drive, it is recommended that you keep the same name for the image wa-ring.gif this prevents you from having to make extra changes in the HTML coding. You will then need to upload this graphic to the same directory as your pages. Please do not link to the graphic on this site.
(2) Copy and paste the HTML fragment (Click here to see it) onto your main WorldsAway page. This fragment makes the webring control strip appear on your webpage. You can place the control strip anywhere on your main page, most people who are members of webrings choose to place it somewhere near the bottom of their main page.
(3) Make the required alterations in the code to reflect your own site ID which will have been given to you when you submitted your site to the queue. Where it says put your own site ID here please delete that section of text and substitute your site ID number. Please also put in your own site ID in the space for "next" and "previous" you do not need to put the ID of the next and previous sites, the webring will calculate which sites are next and previous by using your site ID.
(4) Alter the code to display your own e-mail address and your own name.
(5) IMPORTANT: When the control strip is displayed on your page, please e-mail me and quote the URL of your site, your site ID number and let me know that your page is in the queue and ready to be added to the WorldsAway Members Webring. If I had a hundred tokens for every person that forgets to let me know they have added the code I would be a token millionaire.
(6) Your site will then be visited to check that the correct code is displayed on your page, and that the control strip is placed in a suitable location on your site. You will then be moved from the queue into the WorldsAway Members Webring. If errors are seen in your control strip your ring will not be moved from the queue into the ring, but don't worry, you will be offered help in correcting the control strip. When the control strip is correct, you will be added!
(7) After submitting your site to the queue please read the Member Information & FAQ
Thank you for your interest in the WorldsAway Members Webring! Please feel free to submit any comments, question, or ideas.
If you have problems submitting this form it is possible that the main webring server is down. The best way to check if the server is running is to try and navigate through the ring. Another way to tell if the webring system is currently operational is to look on the main page of this site. If the logo at the bottom of the page is not displayed, then it is likely that the webring system is down for maintenance. If you see that the webring system is not currently working, please do call back later and submit your site. Thank you.
