For some reason as far as I know Meat Pies don't feature in many countries other than Australia. America has the apple pie, the steak and kidney pie is sometimes associated with England but here in Australia the meat pie is associated with Australian Rules Football.
The pie is pretty basic to make, you need meat (normally beef) and some
pie pastry and sort of cook it in the oven for a while (as you can tell
I'm no chef). Anyway you get the basic idea.
The most common commercial Meat Pie in Australia is Four 'n Twenty
Pies. You may have heard of the nursery rhyme 'Four and Twenty black birds'
well that where the name comes from.
Here's what the packet of the pie looks like - yes well it's not all white, I just haven't got the picture yet.
The pie is served hot, a cold pie is not appetising at all, and is often
accompanied by tomato sauce.
