Here are my Great-Grandparents, Thomas and Elizabeth
(Keefe) Norton. Taken on the south or west side of Chicago, in the teens or
twenties. Thomas Norton and his brother James both married Keefe sisters.
They both, also, had to get out of Chicago around 1905, due to some political
scandal, which I still haven't quite figured out. I do know that James was a "brick
inspector" for the city of Chicago, which apparently meant that he went into
an office in City Hall, pulled down the window shade, and napped for much of
the day. Thomas Norton was a paving contractor, which, in those days, meant
paving with bricks. So, when the "bricks hit the fan", Thomas moved his family
to Arkansas for a few years, and James high-tailed it to Florida.
