Retro (the archive)
Chronology: Before 1989? - 1989 - 1990 - 1991 - 1992 - 1993 - 1994 - 1995 - 1996 - 1997 - 1998 - 1999
Before 1989?
- Ed from the Factory mailing list wrote a very interesting message on 30 Jan 2003, answering a question of mine about a possible even earlier incarnation of the Ceremony mailing list and FTP sites in the mid-80s:
In 1986 I went to work for one of the largest computer companies
in the world. Between then and 1988 was on a New Order/JD mailing
list - I can't recall which one but you may have mentioned it
already. I typed in the lyrics at that time. We had a bunch of
internal "newsgroups" related to music and they appeared on there
too - however I don't have an archive of that stuff.
So, though for now we don't have any names, years, URLs, etc., there's actually a good chance that there was something before 1989.
