One of my very fav songs is "What if I Stumble" by DC Talk. It really gets to me because I'm always afraid that I'll fall flat on my face during my walk with Jesus. I once heard a youth pastor say that it is scary, because the people that are not christians might see this fall and think "Huh, their lives are no different than ours, so why should I follow their God?" Well, I came up with a simple reply to that question. "Jesus is perfect, it's just that His followers aren't. He's here to pick you up when you fall down."
GOD Wants You To Know 4 Things . . .
God Wants You To Know That . . .
1. You are a sinner and can't save yourself.
For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us. Titus 3:5
God Wants You To Know That . . .
2. Jesus Christ has already provided the way of salvation.
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16
For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the
unjust, that He might bring us to God.
1 Peter 3:18
God Wants You To Know That . . .
3. You must repent of your sins, confess them and forsake them.
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all righteousness. 1 John 1:9
Whoso confesseth and forsaketh them (his sins) shall obtain mercy. Proverbs 28:13
God Wants You To Know That . . .
4. Acceptance or refusal determines you destiny.
He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. John 3:36
How shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation? Hebrews 2:3
Tis truth or tis not truth? You decide.
I'm pretty sure there are many people out there who get into discussions about wether or not the Bible is wholely true. I've had many events of the such, and it is always me who has to practically defend God's Word. My opponents' grounds to doubt the truth are that the Bible was written by humans. The Bible is much of the time human observation of the events that occured. Humans are imperfect and the authors of the Bible had to have remembered something incorrectly. And if that's not the case, the Bible's biggest mistakes may lie in translation. Translating written material is not always completely accurate. God's Word has been easily translated hundreds of times and revised another hundred times from a language that is no longer spoken in today's world and is only studied by top scholars, so some of the truth had to have been jumbled up and made false just through the translation process. I disagree with this whole scenario and have developed an answer to counter it. My belief lies more in what God is like than in the fact that humans are imperfect.
God wanted something on earth as a guide for us to follow and lead us in the right direction. Something that would answer our questions, fears, and would never misguide us. The Bible is it. When we think about what we've learned in Bible studies we've found that God has always fullfilled his promises and proficies - He flooded the earth, He delivered the Jews to the promise land, He sent His son to die for our sins. He has never misguided us on anything, so what makes us think He's going to start now? The Bible is God's Word, and when anything is God's it is perfect - Jesus and the ten commandments. I don't know why the Bible was written, but I know that God would not allow us to screw up just a little. Sure we humans are imperfect and sure we make infinite amounts of mistakes, but, to me, God allowing one mistake into the Bible would be like a surgeon giving you the wrong blood-type during surgery. It really is the difference between eternal life or eternal death.
