Fall '97 New England Jaunt

Our "reason" for this trip was to visit a good AA friend who had moved back home to NH after 6 years with us in Ohio. Typical alcoholics, we thought that since neither of us had been to New England, it would be a great idea to take back roads and side trips and wander around places we'd never been before...
Out I-90 east along Lake Erie and through NY -- we stopped in Stockbridge, Massachussetts -- home of Norman Rockwell and the Red Lion Inn. Our first experience of the wonder of the Berkshires in the fall... at peak leaf color!!!
Our God does beautiful work!

Down the Mass. Pike...all the way to Provincetown
at the tip of Cape Cod.
Stayed with good friends at their place,
just a half block from Cape Cod Bay, with wonderful sunrise views!

"The Ampersand (&) Guest House"
Call Ken & Robert at 508-487-0959 to make a reservation!

Whale watching is awesome in the Fall! We saw dozens of whales, Atlantic white-sided dolphins... and the ship was not crowded!

Be sure to chcck out the Lobster Pot Restaurant....
GREAT fresh seafood!
~~Incredibly reasonable prices,to us "landlubber" Midwesterners!~~

Won't say too much about our trip through Boston... took us 2 hours to go 4 miles (maybe we'll visit when we can get into the city and see what's there... but driving through is NOT fun! on a fall Friday)

The Maine Coast
While we our friends in NH worked, we took an adventure tour of the Maine coastline -- we hope that you will take the time some Fall to visit this beautiful place and make more wonderful sober memories for yourselves!

THE ROAD HOME
Finally we turned our chariot to the west, and we made a few unplanned stops along the way. First, Milford NH, we stopped for breakfast and were convinced to stay for "The Great Pumpkin Festival."
Then, down 2-lane "blue highways", we stopped at roadside stands & tourist traps to gawk. Of course, we bought some Vermont maple syrup and "sawr" some "covahed" bridges.

Finally, after an overnite stop in NY's Finger Lakes region, we decided to stop for lunch, like the sane people that we are, at Niagara Falls ~~at the top of the Skylon Tower.
