It's bitch and moan time! Tirade, my opportunity
to complain about all that's annoying me. This month I was planning
to do three tirades, but unfortunately the second one didn't really materialize.
I couldn't get my ire up enough to be properly disgusted. I was going
to write about an article I read in Newsweek (or Time or one of those other
magazines they're all the same.) about science finding God. It was
annoying and filled with circular logic, but unfortunately it has been
too long since I read it. Better luck next time.
I ABHOR MY 64
This one will only make sense to those of us who
play video games. Everyone else should probably skip ahead, unless
of course, you like hearing me vent. Oh, and the good thing is that
I'm sending this to Nintendo as well.
Was it two or three years ago when I heard that the Nintendo 64 was coming out. I got excited. I thought back to my old 8 bit Nintendo. Mario, Castlevania, Mega Man, Zelda, Metroid. Then I thought about my Super Nintendo. Mario, Castlevania, Mega Man X, Zelda, Metroid, Final Fantasy, Street Fighter. I remembered all of those games and all of the enjoyment that I had, and I thought, "Well, it's Nintendo, I can't go wrong. They're going to have great games." Ahh, how young and naive.
So I bought the N64 and Mario 64, and I played it. I beat the game and a played it some more, and some more. Then I came to the shocking realization. "Hey! All of the games that they are creating for this system suck! What is the thinking at Nintendo headquarters.? "I know, why don't we make another shooting game. We only have 20 of them. And how about a few more racing games, can't have enough of them. We'll let that Playstation thingie have all of the good games. This game has a bird and a bear! It sucks twice as much!" Does Nintendo expect us to wade through a sea of crap? How many bad games do they expect us to buy? If they actually released more games, maybe I'd buy a few more. As it stands, I only have two N64 games. But I really want to get Mega Man X4. Oh, wait, that's a Playstation title. But I am going to get Final Fantasy VII, for the computer. The only thing that is keeping me from selling the damn thing is Zelda 64. I've seen all sorts of amazing screen shots from Zelda, and it does look great, but unfortunately, it can't be the entire reason to own a system.
This is all I have to say to Nintendo. Please!
Please! Please put out some good games! It's not too
much to ask for. Really. Just ask yourselves, "Who would want
to play this? Anyone at all?" This may save you from making
another Banjo-Kazooie, or Quest 64. Please, try
to get Capcom back. Mega Man is a great series. So is
Street
Fighter. They made a lot of money. They made game players
happy, and isn't that the point?
AND DENIAL WILL KEEP YOU ENSLAVED.
Why don't people at least try to make it hard for
me to see the future. Just last month I said that the wacky right
was going to start their assault on the gay and lesbian community.
Lo and behold, the blitz began.
The "Truth in Love" group ran full page advertisements in newspapers all over the nation last month telling the heathen homos that they can go straight and not go to Hell. (As if anyone wants to go to Heaven if Pat Robertson and Newt Gingrich are going to be there. Hell is where all of the cool people are.) The poster children of this ad campaign, a former gay and lesbian who are now married with children, were touted as how gays could successfully change. The guy, a former prostitute and drag queen, admitted to still being attracted to men, while his wife admitted to not have "emotional", not sexual relationships with females. Great pair of ex-gays.
It all comes down to the right wing bullies telling people, "If you do what we say, we won't pick on you." It's all right to be attracted to people of the same sex, you just have to act like you are a hetero and deny your homosexuality. They cloak their actions in "the love of God", but they are motivated by ignorance and fear. But the worst of the ignorance and fear comes from the people who buy into this nonsense. How many gays and lesbians listen to attack after attack by those claiming to have the monopoly on God, and think that their lives would be better if they weren't gay, and begin to delude themselves in to thinking that they are straight. No amount of the bible can make anyone turn hetero, people can get married, have children, and go to church every Sunday, but it won't make anyone stop being attracted to whomever they are attracted to.
Remember that the truth will set you free, don't let anyone else tell you that you are destroying the fabric of American culture. (unless, of course, you are. Everyone needs a hobby.) For all of the heterosexuals out there, gays are not out to convert you, we are not trying to convert children. We are not a sinister force out to assimilate all that we see. ("We're queer, we're here, resistance is futile! We're queer, we're here, you will be assimilated.") It's always easier to hate stereotypes, try to get to know the people.
Here's a little product
that those Exodus people would love to see on the market. Enjoy.
