[Beep… Beep…]

Ugghh… What now?! My pager is going off, as I wake from semi-peaceful slumber. Terrific. I feel like I need to shave my tongue. It's probably voice mail from work. I reach over to pick up the phone and check my voice mail. It's my friend Lisa (no, not this Lisa), it's another friend of mine whom I worked with that now lives in the east coast. She said something about my picture on my profile page looking like a mug shot. [Yeah, thanks Lisa!] Obviously, it's not. My mug shot looks entirely differently. I rolled over and went back to sleep.

Hello. Sorry, I've been away. This week has been hectic at work and I generally think work is pretty boring. Well, not really, but I don't think that it makes for a particularly interesting journal, so when I spend a day mostly at work I generally don't write about it.

The entire wrapping wrapping around incident didn't work quite as well as I had planned. It works well, but you have to commit to continue to get to sleep at a reasonable time after you have done this, and I haven't been. I've been routinely getting to sleep past 5am. There are some folks that stay there that late, among them Dugan and Dan. They both like to play table tennis as well, so we occasionally take breaks and walk to the next building where they have a table. I've been developing a better topspin game.

Yeah, I'm sure that you simply needed to know that!

I missed lunch with Trudy, Jim, and maybe Steve today. Sorry, I didn't check the mail all that carefully after the fact. I actually ordered lunch in today, so I wouldn't have been going anyway, but as it turns out I was late for that too. It's just one of those days. They did get the lunch for me, but ended up giving it to someone else. [Sigh] I wandered downstairs and picked up lunch from the cafeteria.

I did finally get a phone call from Lisa, the one who left me a message at work this morning. We chatted for a while. It was a little bit of a strange conversation. She was at work and couldn't be quite as liberal with the things she was saying. I suppose that over the years I have developed a knack for talking to people on the phone this way. I was able to put together a series of yes and no questions that let us talk about things for a while. She said what she could and I deducted the rest. Now, I don't want you to think that I've been having an affair with a married woman or anything, I suppose it is just something I developed over time. Hey, I'm versatile!

She eventually has to get off the phone, and we made some tentative plans to talk on Sunday.

I also get a call from my mom, or more accurately a voice mail. She said something about what I'm getting my sister Terry for her birthday. I know that I didn't really want to discuss it with her. What goes on between Terry and I is really strictly our business and we had already talked about it. Either way, I did make a point to call her back when I got the chance.

Did I neglect to mention my next big date with Pam? Oh, I'm sorry. There I mentioned it. Goodnight.

Okay, I didn't figure that I could get away with it that easily. She and I had dinner plans for tonight, which we made shortly after our last date. We would be ordering in. I called her up in the afternoon and arranged for a time for me to arrive, which would be 7:30pm to 8pm. I'd also be bringing a movie for us to watch. I brought Before Sunrise and The Truth About Cats and Dogs and also a couple of music CD's, the recent Marc Anthony album which I've grown so fond of, and a Luis Miguel disc.

Dinner was great. We had Indian food again, and she had it delivered.

You know what else? Many candles and no matches (or lighters). Would you believe? We even had a unsuccessful attempt at lighting a candle with the cigarette lighter in my car. It seems like everytime we get together we have some kind of misadventure.

She remembers my fondness for coconut and made a point of ordering a delightful dish with a coconut sauce. Naturally, I found this to be incredibly sweet. I smiled and thanked her. We played the Luis Miguel disc during dinner we talked and chatted about a number of things. I really enjoy spending time with her. She makes me feel wonderful; I've missed that.

After dinner and a couple of glasses of wine and some champagne, we continued chatting. I teasingly accused her of trying to get me drunk to take advantage of me. We decided to start watching Before Sunrise, which is a wonderful movie; one of my favorites, in fact. This is a movie I've seen a number of times, although this would be the first time for Pam. We put the tape into the player and start the movie. We didn't make it all the way through the movie, we were distracted, though we did manage to watch the end.

She was pretty tired and was falling asleep so I figured that I wouldn't overstay my welcome and I left. I left my movies and CD's at her place. It gave me a good reason to return.

And for those of you who are particularly inquisitive… No, she didn't take advantage of me.
