I had to endure the Seattle traffic again today. I was supposed to make it
to Pam's by 4:30pm. I was only able to leave work
by 4pm. I should've known that that wouldn't be enough time to make it
there in the country's third worst weather. I made it there around 5pm.
Fortunately, I called her while I was stopped in traffic and warned her.
As it turns out she didn't mind too much. We were going to see a Seattle
Sonics basketball game.
San Antonio Spurs 90, Seattle Sonics 82, Final. Way Cool!Unfortunately, I had forgotten to take a picture of the final score. Damn! On the walk back to her place, we stopped by Chutney's, an Indian restaurant on Lower Queen Anne Hill for dinner. It was the same restaurant from which Pam ordered a few weeks ago. I ordered for Pam, she seems to like that. We both ordered Kingfisher beers. Technically, I ordered a Heineken, but they didn't have any more, so I settled for the Kingfisher, which is not a bad beer, but it wasn't what I was in the mood for. We didn't order appetizers. She got the Chicken Tikka Masala, and I had the Lamb Biryani. Oh, and the onion and cilantro naan, of course. The chicken dish is her favorite Indian dish. She had mentioned it before and she's a little surprised whenever I remember. The Biryani is actually Len's favorite Indian dish, although no restaurant seems to prepare it with enough flavor for his liking. Both dishes were good and the portions were abundant; we ended up packing them up. I also introduced her to rasmalai; we shared it. It is an Indian dessert made from ricotta cheese wrung in cheese cloth in a sauce made from condensed milk, nuts, and cardamon. I know that it sounds a little strange, but it is very good. Tonight was no exception. She seemed to like it. We walked back to her place as we endured the cold Seattle night. She seemed amused by the fact that I always walk on the outside of the sidewalk when we walk around the city. It was only a few blocks so that it wasn't that bad, but she seems to be particularly sensitive to the cold. She invited me in and we watched the end of Ally McBeal. Incredulously, Billy died in the show. We both wondered how they dared to kill a character which seems to play a major role in the development of three other characters, Ally (of course), Georgia, and his assistant, whose name I can't remember. We both drifted off to sleep shortly after that. I can't seem to sleep soundly at her place. I woke up about 1:30am. She also woke when I stirred. I left a few minutes later, she saw me off at the door. I went home to sleep on my own bed. March 27, 2000 |
