Happy April Fools' Day!
Our first stop was a place called the Lucky Devil, it is on Ranier Avenue. I'm pretty familiar with the neighborhood because I friend of mine lives a few minutes away. I tried to get a mental picture of the location, but all I could think of is that there was a grocery store at that intersection, but I had the directions, and who am I to say? After wandering around for a couple of blocks, I finally managed to spot the place. Cool. We parked the car at the parking lot for the grocery store and walked across the street to the Lucky Devil; I was supposed to ask for Chuck. At this point, you're probably a bit curious about what kind of place this is it is a tattoo and piercing parlor. I've been thinking about getting a piercing done and have talked to a number of folks about it. Nathan, one of the guys I work with, recommended this place and told me to ask for Chuck. Pam and I waited for the crosswalk while we headed to the Lucky Devil. The place was evenly divided up into two halves. As you walk in, the right half houses all of their tattoo business, they had their share of people just sitting there and they even had a pool table. If you have been to tattoo parlors, this looks like a typical one. The left half is where the piercing business is done. We walked to the counter and started to look at all the piercing jewelry. There was a young woman at the counter, with bright reddish-orange hair and a number of piercings. I told her that a friend suggested I talk to Chuck. Naturally, she replies, "I'm Chuck." Needless to say, this surprises me at first, but it really isn't that big of a deal. Come to think of it, Nathan referred to Chuck as "she" a number of times, but I suppose that it simply didn't click. The piercing itself would be $25, that's without the jewelry. The ring I had picked out was about $15. I suppose my first question was how painful it would be. She described it as similar to having your nipple bitten really hard; I immediatelly turned to Pam and smiled. Oh, did I neglect to mention that it was going to be a nipple piercing? I wasn't really worried, since I seem to have a high tolerance for pain, but I just wanted to be prepared. I also had some questions about care and healing time and the like. Chuck was very professional and patient. Originally I thought about getting both nipples pierced. While I was asking some of the care questions, Chuck pointed out there shouldn't be any oral contact during the initial healing time of two months. Pam pouted I swear! I compromised and decided to get one done at a time. I paid my $40 (plus tax). I had picked out a couple of rings, I would've liked the smaller blue one, but they may not be able to use it depending on the size of my nipple and the surrounding area. Chuck shows me to the back room where the piercing is to be done; Pam and I follow her. As it so happens, I wasn't able to get the smaller blue ring, at least not initially, so I would be wearing the larger purple one. I really liked their setup. They did many things to put my mind at ease. They used individual needles and clamps for all their piercings, they cleaned the area, my nipple, with alcohol and iodine before the piercing. Everything was wrapped in its individual sterile pouches and properly disposed of. She used two sets of latex gloves, one for the cleaning, the other for the actual piercing. Once she had clamped my nipple for the piercing she asked me to take a series of long breaths. They also use the clamp for alignment, which is something that hadn't occured to me before. I held on to Pam's hands while I breathed deeply and simply waited. Chuck tells me to take a really long breath and let it out slowly, and on that breath she pierced me. I wasn't looking since I figured knowing precisely when it would take place might cause me to tense up some muscle involuntarily; Pam simply could not look. It was an incredible experience. Yes, a bit painful, but absolutely exhilarating. While Chuck was attaching the bead to the ring, I was absolutely wired in an endorphin rush. It suddenly made me very aware of my nipple. I suppose that I didn't understand how it really felt to have the nipples as erogenous zones. Not anymore. If you're interested, it is very erotic. If you have any specific questions, feel free to send me mail. Pam and I left shortly after that. As I was putting the seat belt I realized that seat belt, while running across my chest, rested precisely upon my right nipple. Though it was a little painful, it was more arousing than painful, and, as you might imagine, quite distracting. That was our first stop of the day. On the way back to the highway, we passed by a Starbucks coffee, which Pam notes. I asked if she wanted coffee and she says that she does. We stopped for coffee. I think she and Jim are conspiring me to get addicted to this evil stuff. She had a regular mocha with whipped cream and I had a hazelnut iced mocha. We shared a molasses cookie. We chatted about what we would be doing for the rest of the day. I reasoned that I wanted to stop by the office to make sure things were okay, and she could meet some of the folks I work with, Jim included since he was at work. Our next stop was CompUsa; it was on the way to the office. Yes, technically, it was my idea, but only because she needed a black printer cartridge for her printer. She shopped around a little bit and I found something that Len would be interested. I picked it up for him and picked one up for myself. It was, otherwise, a relatively short stop. We eventually stop by my office. She sees my office for a second time, and this time it was substantially worse than the first. She finally meets Jim, who I write and talk about quite a bit. She also meets my friend Christian, whom I have told quite a bit about her, and the before mentioned Nathan who recommended the Lucky Devil. All I really do is check mail really quickly and make sure everything is okay. Everyone seems curious about the woman in my life and seem amused happy for me, but nevertheless amused. And naturally, they all seem amused by my nipple piercing. Nathan and I are now part of a brotherhood of sorts. I make some firmer plans with Jim for dinner, his friend, Rich, would also be joining us. I've met Rich a number of times before, he too is quite likable. Rich doesn't get off work for a little while longer, so Pam and I decided to go to Bellevue Square. Jim would call us when we knew precisely where we were going. On the way out of the office she finds the note that I put in her purse. It was just a little note telling her that I would miss her. That's all. She was leaving on a trip tomorrow for an interview in Atlanta. She wasn't supposed to find it until I pointed it out. Damn! The drive to Bellevue square was uneventful. Well, unless you count my occasional gasping due to the contact of the seat belt with my nipple. Pam was naturally quite amused by the whole thing, and I wasn't complaining. It was a fun thing. I know most men aren't quite his sensitive; I silently wondered if most women were. We didn't spend much time at the mall. We walked around a little bit. Pam was looking for a particular store that wasn't here at this mall. Bummer. We did look around a fair bit, we even walked into the swimsuit store. To this day, I cannot understand how this store stays in business here in the Seattle area. I mean today is an exceptionally nice day at just over 60 degrees, but it is still much too cold for a swim suit. Naturally, we had to go into The Disney Store. Well you can understand. This is when Jim called. We were going to have sushi, more specifically we were going to I Love Sushi. Pam immediately walked to a stuffed animal of Piglet, which she seemed to like quite a bit. I ended up getting it for her. We left shortly after that to meet up with Jim and Rich. By the time we get there, Jim had already gotten us a table. Thanks! We sit down and start to chat. Pam and I were considerably better behaved than the last time we were here, or during dinner with Len, or during dinner with Trudy. I still used my chopsticks with my left hand so I could hold her hand during dinner. Naturally, dinner was great the way it always is here. We talked about a number of things, and much to my surprise, Jim wasn't saying much to try to embarrass me. Pam and I again talked about seeing the John Cusak movie, High Fidelity. Jim and Rich had both seen it, they both recommended it. Since we were trying to make the movie, and it was getting close to the start time, we rushed a little through dinner. Not much though. As it turns out, once we got in the car, Pam asks if we could skip the movie. She was developing a headache and she had to pack for her trip tomorrow. I agreed, I did want to see the movie, but mostly because I wanted to spend time with her. I drove back to her place in Queen Anne Hill. I tried to do what I could to help her with her headache. I installed the printer cartride so that she could print her resumé and did helped her get packed. I left after a little while so that I would not be in her way or disturbing her sleep. I was coming back in a few hours to drive her to the airport. April 1, 2000 |
