Hindenburg was a four-piece band based just southeast of Pittsburgh, Pa. with a sound unlike any other. Though they were most easily classified as modern rock-and-roll, they often incorporated other musical styles, such as blues, folk, etc., into their songs. Hindenburg's unique style, plus the inclusion of folk instruments, such as the mandolin and Irish bouzouki, made it hard to properly fit them in any typical genre. Until an unfortunate theft, they had, to the best of their knowledge, the world's only electric bouzouki.

The band was first formed in July of 1994 when Kort and A.J., who had been getting together to play Led Zeppelin sheet music on a mandolin and a battery-operated electric guitar, asked Costa to join them. One thing led to another, less and less sheet music was being used and soon they were concentrating on writing original songs. Because of the unusual instrumental line-up (mandolin, electric guitar, bass) their sound was very rock and folk-oriented. Dale joined in November of 1995. With the inclusion of a drummer, they added more of a classic rock feel to their songs without losing the folk undertones. After years of rehearsing in cramped rooms, sweltering lofts, cold garages and sloped attics, they became a tight musical outfit. The varied musical backgrounds and interests that influenced each individual made the group results different every time. Their diversity allowed them to play all-out electric performances as well as stripped down acoustic/coffeehouse shows.

When Kort left the band in September of 1997, the three guys who were left continued on under the name ERRATIC FOOL.
