Neil talks about
performing.
"A live performance has something that you just can't get anywhere else. It's very immediate. It's happening right there. But there's a immediacy to a live performance. There's something of the unknown that happens in a live performance because you never really do know how an audience will accept the performance or the music. |
|
" So it is very exciting. It is very scary, and it's one of my favorite things to do. I don't know, maybe it's like a roller coaster ride to me. It's going up and you're waiting then you go out on stage. Once you walk out on stage it's like going down that roller coaster and taking the trip. |
|
"And when it's all over, you know it's like 'God, did I just survive that.' It's kind of wonderful. It's happening. It's real. It's happening at that moment. You can't cover up your mistakes or your inadequacies. If you do something well, you did it you know. It's kind of special (the whole live performing thing) and I like it very much." |
Neil comments on Lovescape.
"I really enjoyed working on the Lovescape album because it gave me the chance to work with some people I've never worked with before...Peter Asher, who I admired from the Linda Ronstadt records he produced. And then there was Albert Hammond and Michel Legrand and Diane Warren...so many talented people." |
|
"One of my favorite cuts in the Lovescape album is "Don't Turn Around." It's just got one of those really infectious choruses that you love to sing and there's a little bit of soul in there, too. I like it a lot. It gets to me every time I sing it." |
