Neil talks about
"America."
A clip from "Neil Diamond's Greatest Hits" video is shown. Neil is singing "America." |
"Well, I love the fact that America has become a popular song. It's very close to my heart. I still get goose bumps and still love to hear it." |
Neil talks about his fans.
"My fans are without any question the most loyal, wonderful, supportive fans that anybody could ever ask for. You don't go out and perform in a vacuum. there's a chemistry that has to happen and if the people in the audience are not willing to make that chemistry happen, no amount of beautiful notes or beautiful songs will create it. It's the combination of the two." |
Neil comments on "If There Were
No Dreams."
"'If There Were No Dreams' came really as a collaboration between Michel Legrand and myself. We met here in Las Angeles and spent a couple of days working on the song. We both liked what became of the song and eventually I went in and recorded it. Also Val Garay produced it. It just came out so pretty that when Columbia Records heard it they said, 'It's gonna be on the new album.' And that's how it ended up on Lovescape." |
Neil and the band perform a studio
version of
"If There Were No Dreams."
Finally, Neil talks about his attendance records.
"I do love the idea that I have some records in buildings like Madison Square Garden and the Forum and a bunch of other cities. That's a nice thing, and we have the plaques up on the wall and it's wonderful. But even better than that is the fact that I have an audience out there that is giving and loving and accepting of what I have to offer. |
|
"And that's a bigger thrill than any of the plaques and the awards. That fact that you have real living people out here who come to see you...come to love your show. It's the best. It's the best. There's nothing that can top that ever." |
The show ends with "One Hand, One Heart" playing in the background over the credits.. |
