A reliable music industry source has confirmed today (15 March 1998) that the next single will be a double A-side - VIVA FOREVER and NEVER GIVE UP ON THE GOOD TIMES.
During an interview for TOTP the Girls said, "We've got a wicked idea for the Viva Forever video, but you'll have to wait and see." (quote from Absolute Spice website). According to our "Outer SPICE Girls" source, there are plans for Nick Park, Academy Award winning creator of Wallace & Gromit (British animation comedy series), to do the Viva Forever video clip. Apparently the clip will feature animated plasticine cats - possibly five, playing the Spice Girls (?). Hmmm... well, that would get around the problem of the Girls' hectic world tour schedule.
If it's anything like Wallace & Gromit (below), we'll be in for a real treat!
Video Release of SpiceWorld - The Movie was on the 1st April 1998, in Sydney Australia!
The video clip for "Stop" is included, and there was a free SpiceWorld poster that came with it, but sadly there is no extra footage.
(News from March 1998) The Girls are allegedly being sued my top fashion magazine 'Elle'. Apparently there was a problem concerning the copyright to the images used on the cover of the top selling "Too Much" cover. This is because the images were taken by an 'Elle' photographer in October 1997, and used as part of a new look Spice image in the magazine. An Elle insider reports, "The directors are considering legal action after it has emerged that no copyright permission was given to reproduce the images for publicity or marketing reasons"
The latest single to be released from the album SpiceWorld, is "Stop". It was released in the UK on 9 March 1998, and is hitting stores in Sydney, Australia in late April 1998. The video clip is available in RealVideo - check it out at http://amyl.simplenet.com/spicegirls/videos.
UK Singles CHART, 19th April 1998:
Sixth week - "Stop" at #17.UK Singles CHART, 5th April 1998:
The fourth week for "Stop" sees it drop to #11. "It's Like That" (Run DMC vs Jason Nevins) is STILL #1, somehow!!!UK Singles CHART, 29th March 1998:
In it's third week, "Stop" has dropped another 3 places to No.7 - well at least it's still in the top ten.7. Stop, Spice Girls
6. Let Me Entertain You, Robbie Williams
5. I Get Lonely, Janet Jackson
4. All I Want is You, 911
3. La Primavera, Sash
2. My Heart Will Go On, Celine Dion
1. It's Like That, Rum DMC vs Jason Nevins
OLD CHARTS:
The latest UK Chart (22nd March 1998) only brings bad news I'm afraid. "Stop" has plummeted (kind of) to 4th position behind Robbie Williams ("Let Me Entertain You"-yah!), Celine Dion, and Run DMC vs Jason Nevins. After the debut of "Stop" at number 2 last week (15th March 1998), and the subsequent drop 2 places, it looks like this is the end of the Spice Girls' run of number 1 hits. Unless there's a miracle, of course. If you're in the UK and haven't already bought "Stop" (both CD1 and CD2), get down to your record shop NOW!

BOYFRIEND RUMOURS (undoubtedly OLD news!)
Mel B is rumoured to be dating her "Spice Boy" (who performs in the concerts with them). His name is Jimmy Gulzar. Old boyf: There have been reports that Mel B and boyfriend Fjolnir Thorgeirsson (an ex-boxer) have split up. Fjolnir has said that no one else is involved, it is just the strain of the Spice tour that has lead to the breakup.
Emma has allegedly been dating Lee Brennan (911 member), however there are reports that they have split due to the hectic schedule of the SpiceWorld World Tour.
Mel C is apparently seeing a member of the Liverpool Football Club, Jason McAteer (no.4). Though there are some reports that she has denied this (who knows!)
Geri is rumoured to be dating her "Spice Boy", who performs at the concerts with them. Apparently his name is Christian Hornsfall. Old boyf: Geri was dating a 21yr old, polo-playing, pal of Prince Charles, Jamie Morrison. It is said that they broke up because Geri found him boring!
Victoria, of course, is still with David Beckham, English football star - very much in love and planning to marry in Spring 1999.
A New Look for Sporty Spice... (this came from the "100% Mel C" - see links page)
(Daily Star, 20 Feb 1998. The usual gossip - she hasn't given up the Sporty look for good!)
Sporty's POSH new look...
Sporty Spice Mel C has stripped off her trademark tracksuit to reveal a new drop-dead gorgeous image. She's taken the plunge into expensive black designer threads and had a complete facial make-over.
Her Sophisticated Spice look comes just days before the start of the Fab Five's sell-out world tour. For her cool new image, Mel looks as though she's taken plenty of fashion advice from bandmate Posh Spice, who favours expensive designer labels like Prada and Gucci.
Liverpool footie fan Mel, 23, has repeatedly told pals she was fed-up with her sporty image. A friend revealed: "This new upmarket image is the way Melanie wants to look from now on. She's always been a down-to-earth girl, but no-one likes to go around dressed in tracksuits all of the time."
NEWS INDEX
Sony Playstation Game (info from Swedish Frida mag which quotes Computer and Video Games Magazine).
The Spice Girls game for Sony Play station will not be a regular adventure game with a beginning and an end. It will be more like one of those "games" where u just walk around and do stuff. You will be able to remix five of their songs, which five is not yet revealed, do photo sessions and dance with the girls.
The game will also include some exclusive photo material that hopefully will be new even for hardcore fans. The girls themselves will appear in the game as kinda manga style cartoons.
An older article about Mel C's look again... (thanks to 100% Mel C page - the best!)
From the Sun, December 17th (Andy Coulson).
Mel reveals glam look at premiere
Mel C used the premiere of the Spice Girls film to unveil the final stage of her gradual transformation from tracksuit-wearing tomboy to gorgeous glamourpuss. There were gasps of admiration and disbelief from crowds at her sexsational new look at the screening in London's West End.
The Fab Five all wore low-cut, figure-hugging black pin-stripe suits - but it was Mel C who stole the spotlight. OUT went the plain brown hair, nose ring, sports gear and scrubbed face. IN came pop star make-up, plucked eyebrows and eye-catching cleavage to go with the recent changes to her image - red hair extensions and gold tooth.
Sporty has taken a leaf out of Posh Spice's book and stopped pumping iron long enough to visit a beautician. The 23-year old has also booted out her England soccer tops in favour or figure-hugging outfits and stopped talking non-stop about football.
Since the girls landed their first hit 18 months ago, Baby, Scary, Ginger and Posh have kicked up a storm in sexy outfits. But not Sporty. She did not even wear a dress in public until the Brit Awards in February, when she turned up in a stunning shiny gold number.
In August she paid £500 on a cosmetic gold tooth and had a new tattoo on her arm. And after filming Spiceworld - The Movie, she started experimenting with make-up. Now she uses American MAC eyeliner, eyeshadow and bright lipstick.
A spokeswoman told me: "Mel wanted to change. She has grown up with the band and wanted to look more stylish. She can't act the tomboy forever."
A hint of the dramatic change comes in the Spice movie, when Mel asks the other girls: "Why do I always have to be on a bike and wearing a tracksuit?"
NEW 2 Become 1 Remixes
There is a single available, released by the group Wildside, which includes 5 remixes of the Spice Girls' hit "2 Become 1". It's an Australian release, on the label Pro DJ International (email: prodj@ozemail.com.au). Even though the singers are not the same (though they do sound similar to the Spice Girls), the mixes are better than those released on the original 2 Become 1 CD - great dance tracks!
The Tracks are:
1) F.T. & Company Edit (4'38),
2) Alviz Houzy Radio Edit (4'02),
3) New Mix (4'32),
4) Alviz Houzy Mix (5'34), and
5) 2 Become 1 Groove (4'20).
