My Place Under the Sun:
The Mighty Pen
My Bleeding Heart II
Here is the second installation of poetry and songs from my notebooks. All are Renée Canada originals. Tell me what you think.
Lullaby: A Mother's Hymn
In the still, I can hear you breathe
Can't believe you're really here
I never thought I would feel so proud
To hold you in my arms
And slowly rock you to sleep
Needing me with each step you take
Reaching out for my hand
Every cry tears me up inside
But I can't always be there
To wipe the tears from your face
Far too soon, you will leave this place
As you grow tall and bloom
You'll make your way bravely on your own
Taking a look back to smile at me
And wave as you slowly move into the unknown

Memory of You
At the point of departure,
I took a flight back home,
Leaving behind a week of fantasy,
The shock of my tears left you helpless
But I proudly bore the pain
And let you try to kiss away the blues
But all I'm left with is a photograph
And a fading memory of you
And I can't feel anything but sadness
For what I've left behind
City streets and the warmth of your hand
Drift with bleeding time that leaves me
Lost and confused, as I wake to the morning light
The sound of your voice trapped in echoes
Flows through me like a river
Because you're a part of me now
But all I'm left with is a photograph
And a fading memory of you...
I bore you witness to my heart again,
I should have known better than that
My heart is bleeding with a reckless pain
It feels like I've been through this before
But it's never hurt quite like this
Now all I'm left with is a photograph...

Fear
Wish that I'd been brave enough to say no
Watching all the pain inside my prison door
Cry, don't you cry, can't you see that's his game
He doesn't care as long as he's one up the score
We've been consumed again, thought we'd been through it all
Can't see through all the pain, feeling oh so small
Swarming like flies into life's spider web
Dangling like puppets in a dummy's hand
Follow the lead without saying a word
Lost without an orchestra, without a band
We've been consumed again, thought we'd been through it all
Seems like we've sped through years, not living life at all.
Blind always blind to the light blazing high
Skipping stones like guessing games, but nothing more
Wish I'd believe with no doubt in my mind,
Sometimes questions lead the way to deeper truth
We've been consumed again, thought we'd been through it all
Can't forget all my life, nor ignore greater Call

Awakening
Sun streaks a violent red across the sky
All too sudden, it is dark
And the world stands quiet
A distant drumming,
A faint humming
Zig zags through the air
Making time too pressured to measure
Tiptoeing through fields of daisies
A single dandelion traces the part in my hair
The earth stands still
In the silence before the dawn
In my sleep are dreams too naked not to be true
I can smell every color and taste every sound
And each breath holds another song
Louder than the one before
Mockingbirds perch outside my window
Their intrusion marks the shadows of dreams
Tell me another fairy tale
And this time, I'll believe

Time Stands Still
Under this smooth skin,
There's a mystery that I must hide
But look, real deep in me are
Threads of a scarlet red
You want to discover the places I've buried away
I can't lead you deeper while I still have the right to say
Don't push too hard, or am I apt to disappear
If you can't trust me, then you'd be better leave me now, here
Or hold me here in your eyes,
The answers later so trust me, don't ask why
What makes you think that I don't love you
I'll show you that I can give you the most.
In your eyes, there's a place
Where time stands still
But I have yet to find that space between
It's so cold outside but I need to be alone
There's still a side of me
Too blinding to see on its own
And yet you're the only one who has the chance to break the shell
So, if you just hold on, I can make it worth your while
Then hold me here in your eyes,
The answers later so trust me, don't ask why
What makes you think that I don't love you
I'll show you that I can give you the most.
