We Like Ike: TOUR!

Summer 1998:

This is the story of two college-aged best friends, their friend from the Internet, a mom, and our adventure at the Cinncinatti Hanson concert on Aug 3rd written from my perspective (Mandy). Note: Pictures are "borrowed" from Hansonine until our pictures get developed and scanned.
It all began one beautiful day when Katie (our friend we meet on the Internet) found that Hanson was coming to Cinncinatti and that the tickets were on sale EARLY! Luckily, Cherry (the best friend) came to the rescue and bought our tickets. (Love ya, Chers!) We got row 900, which didn't look that good, but we were on the first row of the section. We were sicced and ready to go!

A painful two weeks later, everyone came to my house to spend the night and leave the next morning for Cinncinatti, which is about 4 hours from my house. I had never met Katie before, but we all hit it off great. To pass time we went to a movie (Armegeddon). When we got back home, we had pillow fights, played cards and talked till 3 in the morning. We were all so excited we couldn't go to sleep. The next morning, we slept in til about 10 and left at 11 toward Cinnicinatti and HANSON!! Just the thought of being in the same area as Hanson was thrilling!
We got to Cinncinatti WAY early. Lucky thing to because, I being the navigator, told mom to go the wrong way on the road that ran infront of the Riverbend Music Center. :) We got going in the right direction before we were TOO lost and we were there!!!! What a feeling. Pictures were taken. We were there so early that we got an AWESOME parking place. Next came the standing in line part. It was hot and we were anxious to get inside the venue and in the shade, but it was fun to watch all the Hanson fans and there moms. Watching them I realized how old I was to like Hanson! There Cherry and I were a 19 year olds in the middle of a sea of 12-15 year olds.

Standing in line, a few cool things happened. We had only gotten to the line about 10 minutes before I started watching the little guys with venue uniforms walking back and forth inside the gates behind the venue. Not one sec after I thought, "You know Hanson could be walking around too, did I spot a woman with VERY long reddish hair walking with two stocky guys. One of the guys was carrying a baby. I went for the binnoculars. Sure enough! It had to be! Who else with ground length hair with a baby would be behind the gates?!
It was Diana Hanson with baby ZOE! I was the only one who saw them, so I pointed them out to Cherry and Mom (Katie was making a poster on the ground.) A few minutes later I spotted two very blond little girls, which had to be Jessie and Avery. That was cool!
Finally after talking to some cool Hanson/Admiral Twin fans in line, they let us in. (We had to wait about an hour.) THe first thing we wanted to do was FIND OUR SEATS. (Well, we did use the restroom :)) We climbed the stairs and stepped onto the lawn. There it was....the stage.

Walking over to the side and into the covered part were our seats were we stopped and our chins dropped. We were SO CLOSE!! So much closer than we imagined! We got really excited! Wow!!    We grabbed our seats and noticed the tour bus beside the stage. There were here...in the same venue! AGH! We left mom in our seats and headed toward the MERCHANDISE!
The merchandise is awesome! Keychains, new tour t's, a huge poster, backstage pass look-a-likes, pins, and a tour program. I refrained from buying too much stuff (wish I hadn't!) All I got was a tour program and a pin.    Now all that was left to do was wait for the concert to start and watch the people. It was kind of humorus. Someone would scream like the saw a Hanson and the whole place would start screaming and some would run toward the first scream. When it was quite, I let out a scream just to see what would happen. Everybody screamed. lol. What was cool though is that we spotted Walker Hanson and Ashley Greyson, friend of the Hansons and tour cooridinator, was right in front of us not five feet away twice. The concert was about to begin
