An early version of "In the Shadow of the Starlight" (seen in its final form in Spires
of Spirit) was published in the April 1985 issue of The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction.
A short story appeared in RoC's The Magic of Christmas,
and another in an anthology edited by Mercedes Lackey, the name of which escapes me.

Coming Soon
Gale Baudino's new novel, The Bournes of Life, will be published soon by Roc Books.
I've started this site because Gael Baudino's novels have affected me in ways that fiction - particularly fantasy fiction - rarely does. They've moved me to laughter, tears, passion, anger, and even faith. It isn't just that she creates wonderful characters, or rich settings, or intricate plots. It's that she uses all of those elements to reach inside and address the things that really move us - what theologian Paul Tillich would call "ultimate concern". For me, these novels are more than entertainment, and a little less than sacred scripture. Think of them as myths - myths that may help keep us alive in the modern decay of the human mythic consciousness. Read and enjoy.
