was formed, like so many other bands, two days before their first show. Nov. 22, 1997 was the show(The 21st St. Co-op birthday party), and Jay and Toto's band, Springhill Mine Disaster, was scheduled to play. BUT, higher powers intervened, forcing Springhill to cancel, and Brandi, who was supposed to have been the stand-in SMD bassist, along with Jay and Toto, set off on what would become the crazy punk rock ride that is woozyhelmet. The birthday party show was total chaos. All the songs we had written in the previous two days were forgotten by different members at different points, creating a pretty continuous flow of badness(or was it bad-assness?), The Beck cover that we were playing in two different simultaneous time signatures really pissed a few people off, and by the end of the show the three of us were standing in the audience, watching our friends and a few strangers banging on our equipment. All of which is to say it was a fantastic success.(although since then we have learned how to rock out a little bit more coherently.) So now we play at Austin's finest clubs pretty regularly, although our favorite shows are still the parties we occasionally get invited to play at. So invite us to your next shindig! Anyway, that's the story of woozyhelmet so far. But check this out:
