We were having you on all the time. The single "Infected" was not released on 10 July after all but finally saw the light of day on 30 October. Absolutely definitely it was. You can download it from the Freebase website by clicking on "Collision" You can also access a free Fortune West mp3 download of the track "Not Swimming" by clicking here.

To celebrate the release Fortune West are playing the Camden Underworld on Friday 15 December supporting My Life Story. To order tickets click

Well it's been an even longer time but the single "Infected" is out today on the Collision label COL005, a 7" only release with "A happy home" on  the flipside. What took them so long? Who knows. Anyway a nice pic of the sleeve will appear here very soon. Meanwhile an mp3 of another West pop tune "Notswimming" is available from the Freebase website .

West into 2000

The tracks for the first two singles were mixed on New Year's Eve. That's about that really. Apart from that Fortune West have been enjoying the holiday season and prepare to take 2000 by storm. Watch this space for release and gigging news

Single recorded but gig off!

The West gig at Dusk Till Dawn on 17 December has been cancelled. The band night at DTD has been moved from Fridays to Saturdays to fill the void left by the demise of the not-very-successful Salsa club. And, unfortunately Saturdays are out for the West, this side of Xmas. So that oh-so-poignant rendition of Christmas Lights will have to wait a year. Ah well...

But, on a more productive note, Fortune West were in the studio last week recording the tracks which will comprise their first two singles (see 15 November news item). Sources close to the band (i.e. the band members themselves) are already enthusing over the the rough mixes. The plan is to release two limited 7" singles in early 2000. Backed up by some gigs. Honestly!

First two singles announced and upcoming live appearance

The first Fortune West single will be "Infected" with additional tracks "Who am I kidding?" and "What makes a happy home" to be followed up by "Ex boyfriend" with additional tracks "Notswimming" and "You've changed". All these tracks will be recorded in the next few weeks. The B-sides are deemed to be not quite good enough to make the  eventual debut album (in accordance with "rock law") but are still very top tunes indeed.

The two A-sides will be previewed on Friday 17 December at "Dusk till dawn" in Rochester High Street. A selection of appropriate festive covers will be considered by The West, not to mention their very own "Christmas Lights"
