PFLAGERIZE (Flay-ger-eyes; verb): To alter, build or fix, so as to make better, using whatever items are on hand, such as duct tape, window caulk, and milk crates. As in, "Dude! That speaker cab was headed for the junk heap, but I pflagerized the son-of-a-bitch and now it's good to go!" The man who inspired this term is none other than our own resident MacGyver, Curtiss Pflager. In addition to his role as bassist for PROON, and webmaster of this very website, The PROON Pit, Curtiss adds a unique element to the band with his innate (yet strangely simple) technical abilities. Drop a speaker and break the cord jack? Get some glue and Pflagerize it. Tailgate on your pickup won't open? Get a screwdriver and Pflagerize it. Speaker cab making a strange buzzing noise? Get out the caulking gun and Pflagerize it. Out of guitar picks? If you have some old credit cards and a scissors you can Pflagerize your own. Let's just say that without Curtiss we'd be a band with a lot of broken stuff. Not to take anything away from his bass abilities. Curtiss lays down some killer grooves. He's as adept with a five-string as he is with a soldering iron. But from the top of his John Deere cap to the bottom of his beat up shoes, Curtiss embodies the hard-working, straight-shooting, and perhaps a bit quirky attitude that is PROON. In a word, he's Pflagerific. Curtiss was just recently playing bass for Coalshack and newly signed Plaid Star Records recording artist Allan Lopes.www.myspace.com/curtisspPlease click on link above for his myspace page.
