Biography!
Trying not just to copy the official bio, I've set up a list with the most important steps on ND's WAY TO THE TOP. It brings you all the info - and is (I think) easier to read.
- ND was formed by John Spence (a friend of the Stefani-kids & huge ska fan) in 1987
- Tony joined this formation (John=vocalist, Gwen=2nd vocalist, Eric=keyboard) when they were an unknown party-band
- John committed suicide in Dec. 1987
- Alan Meade took the mic, but left the band soon to become a husband and father
- From that time on the mic was Gwen's alone
- Tom joined the band in 1988
- And the formation was completed by Adrian Young who followed in 1989
- In 1991 ND signed their first record deal to Interscope records
- their first self-titled album was recorded from Oct. 1991 - Jan.1992 and released
- ND's first US tour followed in second half of 1992
- The 2nd independent album "The Beacon Street Collection" was out in early 1995 to release "some material between records"
- The most popular ND record "Tragic Kingdom" was released in Oct. 1995
- Gwen & Tony's relationship was drawn out over the time frame of this album's creation
- Eric Stefani left the band to become an animator for the TV show "The Simpsons"
- The "Tragic Kingdom" album hit No.1 spot of the US album charts Dec. 21, 1996
- They've been on the road 'till winter 1997
- At the moment they're at home recording a new album
- New album will be out soon and a tour will follow
