JIM GANNON info

Jim Gannon (guitar)

Powerful lead guitarist.

In 1966, he was a founder member of Pesky Gee, a band from Leicester:

Kay Garrett (vocals)
Kip Trevor (vocals, guitar, harmonica)
Jim Gannon (guitar, vocals)
Bob Bond (bass)
Jess 'Zoot' Taylor (keyboards)
Clive Jones (sax, flute)
Clive Box (drums, percussion)
They released an album called Exclamation mark. In 1970, their singer leaves, and they change name to Black Widow:
Kip Trevor (vocals, guitar, harmonica)
Jim Gannon (guitar, vocals)
Bob Bond (bass)
Jess 'Zoot' Taylor (keyboards)
Clive Jones (sax, flute)
Clive Box (drums, percussion)
They were quite famous in the hard rock scene. Their first album was called Sacrifice. Moderate success leaves them to being billed as part of the Isle Of Wight festivals (both in 1969 and 1970).

By the time of the second album, 2 members left:

Kip Trevor (vocals, guitar, harmonica)
Jim Gannon (guitar, vocals)
Jeff Griffiths (bass)
Jess 'Zoot' Taylor (keyboards)
Clive Jones (sax, flute)
Romeo Challenger (drums, percussion)
Their 2nd album was called Black Widow. After that, Gannon left (being substituted by the great John Culley, from superb band Cressida).

Many years later, old tapes with the songs from their first album (the one called Sacrifice) have been unearthed, but still recorded with their first vocalist Kay Garrett. It has finally been released too, under the title Return to the Sabbat.

Next band was Fox. It was formed by great musicians around 1974, assembled with a special vocalist with a powerful look.

They released two albums, called Fox, and Tails of illusion. Roger Taylor (drummer for Queen) sings backing vocals in a track by Tails of illusion.

Their 3rd album was Blue hotel, recorded with external contributions: Andy Roberts (guitar, banjo, mandolin), Bud Beadle (sax), Jay Gurden (guitar), Ann Odell (keyboards), John 'Rabbit' Bundrick (keyboards), Glen LeFleur (drums), Martin David (drums, percussion).

Their main visual impact was Noosha, but she left the group in 1977, starting her solo career.

but soon Kenny and Herbie started their own project, called Yellow Dog. Some mates from Fox, plus the great Andy Roberts:
Herbie Armstrong (guitar, vocals)
Kenny Young (guitar, vocals)
Andy Roberts (guitar, vocals)
Jim Gannon (guitar)
Rod Demick (bass, vocals)
Gary Taylor (bass)
Gerry Conway (drums)
Their first, self-titled album, Yellow Dog, was produced by Kenny Young. For the 2nd album, Gannon wasn't with them.

He then joined a band called Sherbet. And nothing else I've been able to trace about him. Help, please!
