City to city is a superb album, and
it contains Gerry's most famous song, 'Baker Street'. A superb list
of musicians (as always). Micky Moody (guitar), Hugh Burns (guitar), Andy
Fairweather-Low (guitar), Jerry Donahue (guitar), Nigel Jenkins (guitar),
B.J. Cole (steel guitar; well, he's credited as Brian Cole, but I think
it's B.J.!), Gary Taylor (bass), Tommy
Eyre (keyboards), Raphael Ravenscroft (sax), Paul Jones (harmonica),
Graham Preskett (violin), Henry Spinetti (drums), Glen LeFleur (drums).
And on backing vocals: Barbara Dickson, Rab Noakes and Joanna Carlin.

Superb singer, he'll someday have his own pages in
my Olympus. In this album, we can find the cream of British musicians:
Micky Moody (guitar), Brian Robertson (guitar), Dave Markee (bass), Tim
Hinkley (keyboards), Pete Wingfield (keyboards), Raf Ravenscroft (sax),
Henry Spinetti (drums), Kenny Jones (drums). What a coincidence... all

Abba recorded several versions of the song 'Just
like that' in 1982. One of them featured Raf Ravenscroft on a sax solo.
But the song was never released. But many years later,some parts of the
song have appeared in the Thank you for the music ABBA boxset.

Pictures at eleven (1982, Atlantic)
The lead singer in Led Zeppelin started his solo
career under his own name with this album. His band was: Robbie Blunt (guitar,
from Silverhead), Paul Martinez (bass),
Jezz Woodroffe (keyboards, from Black Sabbath). As he hadn't a stable drummer,
he used two of them for the album: Cozy
Powell and Phil Collins. Also guesting here in 1 song, Raf Ravenscroft
(sax).
Pink Floyd

The final cut (Mar 83, Columbia)
This was the last album by the band before splitting.
They had just lost one of the members, keyboardist Rick Wright:
They used great musicians for these sessions: Michael
Kamen (keyboards), Andy Bown (keyboards), Raf Ravenscroft (sax), Ray
Cooper (percussion).
America

Your move (Jun 83, Capitol)
The famous trio turned into a duo (Gerry Beckley &
Dewey Bunnell) in the early 80s. This album, produced by Russ Ballard,
who also plays most instruments, features contributions by Raf Ravenscroft
(sax), Stephen Bishop (backing vocals on one song). The album includes
the beautiful song 'The border'. The album gives thanks to the usual
America backing band, although I don't know why they didn't play in the
album, as they are great musicians (Willie Leacox, Brad Palmer and the
fantastic lead guitarist Michael Woods).

The first solo album by Roger Waters after Pink
Floyd split. A superb album! With fantastic names: Eric Clapton (guitar),
Andy Bown (keyboards), Michael Kamen

(sax), Vic Sullivan (sax), Ray Cooper (percussion), Andy Newmark (drums),

This was a project conceived by the great Eddie
Hardin, since 1976. Wind in the willows is based on a musical
translation of a novel, Eddie Hardin and Zak Starkey started working on
it in 1985. With a great list of musicians: Ray Fenwick (guitar), Steve
Hackett (guitar), Chris Thompson (guitar, vocals), John Entwistle (bass),
Mike O'Donnell (bass), Steve Richardson (bass), Tony Ashton (keyboards,
vocals), Don Airey (keyboards), Jon Lord (keyboards), Raphael Ravenscroft
(sax), John 'Bimbo' Acock (sax), Pete York (drums), and vocals by: Maggie
Bell, Graham Bonnet, Tony Barton, Donovan, Joe Fagin and Val McKenna.

In 1991, there was a live performance at the Zeitfestival
Freiburg in Germany, and seven years later, it was released as Wind
in the willows - a rock concert. The great lineup is very similar
to the studio version: Ray Fenwick (guitar), Tony Ashton (keyboards, vocals),
Don Airey (keyboards), Jon Lord (keyboards), Raphael Ravenscroft (sax),
Pete York (drums), and vocals by: Maggie Bell, Graham Bonnet, Donovan,
Joe Fagin. This CD release also includes two studio bonus tracks from the
original sessions, featuring Denny
Laine (song 'The life we left behind') and Billy Ocean.

Raf has played in at least two albums by Mike Oldfield.

Moody (guitar), Phil Spalding (bass), Raf Ravenscroft (sax), Andy Mackay
(sax), Tony Beard (keyboards), Mickey Simmonds (keyboards), Simon Phillips
(drums), Pierre Moerlen (percussion), Benoit Moerlen (percussion). The
CD edition has one more track, 'When the night's on fire'.

Along the years, The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra
has been recording some albums with rock and pop covers; usually with famous
guest musicians. This one is devoted to The Police, and we can find here:
the complete Gary Moore Band lineup (Gary Moore, Neil
Murray, Don Airey, Ian Paice), plus Chris Thompson (vocals), Graham
Bonnet (vocals), Roy Wood (vocals), Keith Airey (guitar), Robin LeMesurier
(guitar), Chaz Jankel (keyboards), John McKenzie (bass), Raphael Ravenscroft
(sax), Richard Bailey (drums). The CD edition was re-named Classic
Police (1993, Icon).
