KATIE KISSOON info

Katie Kissoon (backing vocals)
(from left to right: Roger Waters, Doreen Chanter and Katie Kissoon - live , 1984)

Fantastic, talented vocalist. She had a duo called Mac & Katie Kissoon, with some hits and several albums. Now, she currently acts as backing singer.

In 1978, Van Morrison forms a live band to promote his album Wavelength:

In September 1979, the band had lost keyboardist Peter Bardens (ex-Camel): A later lineup was: There is an official release of a live video from Wavelength tour, called "Live in Ireland". Warner Bros issued a promotion demo LP in 1978, Live at the Roxy, later put out on general release in 1989 on the Seagull label.

As we can read in Tim Renwick's page, Katie toured with Roger Waters during July-August 1984. The second leg of the tour (March/April 1985) had a different lineup:

From August to November 1987, Roger Waters toured in order to promote his album Radio KAOS. This was the lineup for his backing band, The Bleeding Hearts Band: On October 1991, there was a great festival held in Seville, Spain. The event was called Guitar Legends. Many fantastic people played there (you can watch more info and some photos in my pages on Neil Murray). Roger Waters came on the 4th day, to play a similar set to the Berlinese concert of The Wall. This time, the all-star lineup included his usual Bleeding Hearts Band, plus some guests (for example, Tony Levin and Bruce Hornsby, who were the musical directors for that day in the festival, usually playing with all the artists): Katie was also present in the live band assembled by Eric Clapton to back his long time friend George Harrison, around 1991:
George Harrison (vocals, guitar)
Eric Clapton (guitar, vocals)
Andy Fairweather-Low (guitar, vocals)
Nathan East (bass)
Chuck Leavell (keyboards)
Greg Phillinganes (keyboards)
Ray Cooper (percussion)
Steve Ferrone (drums)
Katie Kissoon (backing vocals)
Tessa Niles (backing vocals)
After the tour, it was released a 2CD live, Live in Japan.

This is the lineup for Eric Clapton band in February 1994:

Eric Clapton (guitar, vocals)
Andy Fairweather-Low (guitar)
Dave Bronze (bass)
Chris Stainton (keyboards)
Jerry Portnoy (harmonica)
Simon Clarke (sax)
Tim Sanders (sax)
Roddy Lorimer (trumpet)
Richie Hayward (drums)
Katie Kissoon (backing vocals)
Maggie Ryder (backing vocals)
But the lineup will change soon, Katie (and Maggie and Andy Newmark) leaving the band around May 1994.

Around February 1996, Katie Kissoon and Tessa Niles join Eric Clapton band again:

Eric Clapton (guitar, vocals)
Andy Fairweather-Low (guitar)
Dave Bronze (bass)
Chris Stainton (keyboards)
Jerry Portnoy (harmonica)
Simon Clarke (sax)
Tim Sanders (sax)
Roddy Lorimer (trumpet)
Steve Gadd (drums)
Katie Kissoon (backing vocals)
Tessa Niles (backing vocals)
In 1997, Eric Clapton leaves his band frozen for a while (Eric and Steve Gadd joined Legends, a band assembled by Marcus Miller).  But in October 1997, Eric comes back to solo touring in Japan, this time without horn section, and keeping Joe Sample (keyboardist in Legends) with him:
Eric Clapton (guitar, vocals)
Andy Fairweather-Low (guitar)
Dave Bronze (bass)
Chris Stainton (keyboards)
Joe Sample (keyboards)
Steve Gadd (drums)
Katie Kissoon (backing vocals)
Tessa Niles (backing vocals)
In 1999, Roger Waters assembles a new live band for touring during July and August:
Roger Waters (vocals, bass, guitar)
Andy Fairweather-Low (guitar)
Doyle Bramhall II (guitar)
Jon Carin (keyboards)
Graham Broad (drums)
Katie Kissoon (backing vocals)
The band is increased for the 2000 tour (June & July):
Roger Waters (vocals, bass, guitar)
Snowy White (guitar)
Andy Fairweather-Low (guitar)
Doyle Bramhall II (guitar)
Jon Carin (keyboards)
Andy Wallace (keyboards)
Graham Broad (drums)
Katie Kissoon (backing vocals)
Susannah Melvoin (backing vocals)
The band includes an additional vocalist, the veteran PP Arnold, in order to record a live album:
Roger Waters (vocals, bass, guitar)
Snowy White (guitar)
Andy Fairweather-Low (guitar)
Doyle Bramhall II (guitar)
Jon Carin (keyboards)
Andy Wallace (keyboards)
Graham Broad (drums)
Katie Kissoon (backing vocals)
PP Arnold (backing vocals)
Susannah Melvoin (backing vocals)
The live album is a 2CD called In the flesh, and it was also released as a video.

And this is Roger Waters band for year 2002 (touring from February to April):

Roger Waters (vocals, bass, guitar)
Snowy White (guitar)
Andy Fairweather-Low (guitar, vocals)
Chester Kamen (guitar, vocals)
Andy Wallace (keyboards)
Harry Waters (keyboards)
Norbert Stachel (sax)
Graham Broad (drums)
Katie Kissoon (backing vocals)
PP Arnold (backing vocals)
Linda Lewis (backing vocals)
What a lineup, and especially a golden vocal section! It's nice to see Linda Lewis back!!

In April 2002, Linda Lewis leaves the lineup, being replaced for the rest of the tour (May to June 2002) by another great singer, Carol Kenyon:

Roger Waters (vocals, bass, guitar)
Snowy White (guitar)
Andy Fairweather-Low (guitar, vocals)
Chester Kamen (guitar, vocals)
Andy Wallace (keyboards)
Harry Waters (keyboards)
Norbert Stachel (sax)
Graham Broad (drums)
Katie Kissoon (backing vocals)
PP Arnold (backing vocals)
Carol Kenyon (backing vocals)
This is the lineup that played in Spain, in Barcelona.
