  • Brendan was legally dead for fifteen seconds while filming The Mummy. Big dopey perfectionist that he is, Brendan told the director that the noose around his neck in the execution scene could be secured tighter to make it look more realistic. When the time came to shoot the scene, the stunt gallows broke, the floor actually fell through beneath him, and for a brief time, they were truly hanging Brendan. When the crew came to his rescue, he was no longer breathing, but they were able to resuscitate him quickly. Imagine how his mother felt when she heard that cheery little anecdote.

  • Erick Avari, the curator who yells at Evelyn when she knocks over the shelves and shelves of books in the museum, also portrayed one of the convenience store salespersons who advised Stoney of the proper amount of time necessary to nuke his burrito in Encino Man.

  • Though the cast and crew were unaware of it during filming, insurance policies against kidnapping had been purchased for all of them, since the location of the shoot (which was not Egypt, because it was too dangerous, but rather Morocco, I think) was a bit unstable.

Rick, ready to strike

The Rick O'Connell 15" action figure. His legs and arms are poseable (though his knees don't bend), and he has four pistols and a rifle. When you lift his right arm, he says "I was just trying to have a good time" (but MINE doesn't because my brother and his friends broke him), and when you lift his left arm, the dynamite he carries lights up and sounds like it's about to explode. As Brendan himself pointed out, this Rick talks out of his butt, so when the dynamite hisses, it sounds like he's passing gas.

Rick relaxes for a moment to look good for the camera

Brendan's first teenybopper-ish poster. I have yet to go out and buy it, but as soon as I find it, it will be mine.

Do you think you could crack a smile? . . .

He was also on the cover of the

April/May 1999 Tribute, a Canadian publication,

but I can't get the file type to upload correctly,

so I'll have to try again another time :-(

Brendan also appeared on the View, the Late Show, Live with Regis and Kathie Lee, Total Request Live, and probably several other talk/variety shows to promote the Mummy.

AND! E! did a Celebrity Biography on Brendan, which featured interviews with his former teachers at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle and various friends and co-stars, brief conversation with Brendan, pictures of Bren from toddler-dom to present, and a picture of his birth announcement.
