"Thank you for taking me to the movies, Isaac." Ali said to him. They were on there way home from the movies. They went and saw Titanic and it was alreday past 11:00. She really enjoyed the evening with Ike but still wasn't sure of her feelings for him. He hadn't tried any moves on her which she was thankful he hadn't. "Hey, no problem." He smiled at her and she returned it. "Hey can you grab that blanket it the backseat. Mackie left it in here." He turned his head and pointed to it in the far back. He was driving on a not so busy road only with a stop sign. "Sure." Ali unbuckled her seat belt and climbed in the back. Isaac stopped the car at the stop sign and proceeded to turn right. As he did so another truck coming from his left traveling WAY above the speed limit was turning left into the same lane. The truck hit the jeep traveling at 60 mph on a 40 mph road. It hit in the back end of the jeep just as Ali was reaching Mackie's blanket. Then everything went black..... * * * * * * * * "Hello?" Taylor answered the phone. It was already past midnight and Isaac and Ali were to be home over an hour ago. Diane was frankily pacing the floor with Walker hot on her heels. All the younger ones went to bed hours ago and Taylor and Zac were just watching some late night T.V. Kirsten and David were in Oklahoma City for some surprise for Ali and they would return in the morning. "Is this the Hanson resident?" A male voice asked. Taylor could hear alsorts of noises in the background. Such as people yelling and carts being pushed. "Yes, it is. May I help you?" He sounded very polite. "Around 11:45 a young man by the name of Isaac Hanson came in the Emergency room from a car accident." Taylor's mouth dropped and his eyes widened. "He was able to drive his I belive a jeep here with a young girl to the hospital. His car was hit by what we think is a drunk driver going over 20 mph over the speed limit. Are you with me sir?" Taylor just dropped the reciever. Diane looked over at her son and saw tears start to well up in his eyes. She ran to him and picked up the phone. Taylor could hear the man repeating what he had just said and Diane burst into tears. Walker had Zac stay behind with the younger ones while Taylor, Diane, and him all sped to the hospital. All three of them bounded into the Emergency like a bat outta hell. Isaac sat on the end of a bed with an orderly cleaning his wounded left arm. Diane ran to her son and threw her arms around him. "Oh Baby! Are you all right?" She pulled away and over looked Ike. His left arm was all cut up, he had a huge bruise in the middle of his forehead, and he had some sort of wrap around his right ankle. "I'm okay mom." Isaac said just as Taylor and Walker walked to him. "All I got was a couple bruises, cuts, and a broken ankle." He looked in very bad shape. "What happened?" Taylor blurted out. They all looked at him and then Isaac answered. "I had the right away and this guy ran the stop sign and hit me. They think he was drunk since he was going 20 mph over the speed limit." "What about Ali?" Walker asked his son. Isaac's face grew with sadness as he looked to the floor. "Ali was grabbing Mackie's blanket from the back seat so she wasn't in her seat belt like me." Diane gasped. She could only think of what had happened. She could just picture it as he told the rest. "The impact threw her body against the back window. The glass broke but she landed in the back seat of the car. She wouldn't talk or move so I just drove here as fast I could." Taylor clasped in the chair next to the bed. He could just picture Ali's body getting slammed at the back window and lying there. Horror came across his body and he shuttered. "The doctors took her into surgery as soon as I got here." A tear slid down Isaac's cheek. "Mom, I'm so sorry." Isaac started to cry and Diane wrapped her arms around her son. A tear trickled down Taylor's cheek but he held the rest back. He had to be brave. Walker went to the nurses station and asked how Ali was doing while Taylor sat in utter silence trying to be brave. Isaac finally got control of himself and pulled away from his mother. "Mom, you gotta call Kirsten and David." Taylor stated. Diane turned to her son. He was sitting there with a worried yet calm looke on his face. She knew he was holding back tears. She slowly nodded her head and left the two boys alone. Walker walked slowly over to them with his gaze at the floor. "Aleka just got out of surgery and is it critical condition. They moved her to ICU over night. I'm going to stay here with her. Your mom is trying to get a hold of Kirsten right now as well." He looked up to his oldest boy. "I want you to go home and get some sleep and stay with your mom. Taylor," He looked to him. "You can stay or go." His father was giving him a choice but of course he already knew the answer. "I'm staying." Taylor said standing up. Isaac slowly got up as he grabbed a pair of crutches the orderly gave him. Diane walked over to them. "I can't get a hold of Kirsten or David right now. Not until morning anyways." There mothers eyes were blood shot and she looked totally worn out from previous crying. "Are you ready to go hunnie?" She said walking next to Isaac. He nodded and they trotted off down the hall. Back To Main Page Chapter 6
