Crompton-Jones, 1961. Recorded: 17-08-61 |
Johnny Kidd
(vocals) - Alan Caddy (lead) - Brian Gregg (bass) -
Clem Catinni (drums) - "Thunderclap" Jones (piano) |
Minor classic "So What"
was the b-side to "Please Don't Bring Me Down". Co-writer
Morgan "Thunderclap"
Jones supplied the very effective piano accompaniment, and the song would
have made a very interesting choice for the topside. It proves that the
heart of rock 'n' roll was not dead, only a touch out of fashion until
the Beatles hit the mark. It also rounds off
the first "classic" Pirate line-up era, before they jumped ship to
become Cabinboys backing Colin Hicks. The recording is notable for
having a much fuller sound that the topside it accompanied. |

I've never had a penny to my name
Reckon I'll always be the same
A lot of people say it's true
But I don't care if they do
So what - I've still got you
As long as you're in love with me
That's the way it's gonna be
We'll maybe I'm a little blue
Well honey that's nothin' new
So what - I've still got you
That's right, come on now
Squeeze me tight
Hmm Hmm that's nice
Every time you kiss me I'm in Paradise
I love you baby, yes indeed
You give me everything I need
And all the other chicks I knew
I wonder where they did theirs too
So what - I've still got you
(instrumental break)
I love you baby, yes indeed
You give me everything I need
And all the other chicks I knew
I wonder where they did theirs too
So what - I've still got you
So what - I've still got you |
